Die Internationale Elektrotechnische Kommission, kurz: IEC
(von engl. International Electrotechnical Commission) ist eine internationale
Normungsorganisation mit Sitz in Genf für Normen im
Bereich der Elektrotechnik und Elektronik.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is an international
standards organisation with its headquarters in Geneva
which develops standards in the areas of electrical equipment and
electronics.
Das IEC Ex-Prüfzeichen ist eine spezielle Kennzeichnung für
Explosionsschutz Einrichtungen. Es bedeutet, dass Einrichtungen,
Schutzsysteme oder Bauteile den Anforderungen der internationalen
und europäischen Norm entsprechen, die mit der Richtlinie
94/9/EC (ATEX-Direktive, benannt nach der französischen
Bezeichnung „ATmosphere EXplosible“) harmonisiert sind.
The IEC Ex mark of conformity is a special identification for equipment
and services used in explosive atmospheres. It means that equipment,
protective systems or components meet the requirements of
the international and European standard which are harmonised with
Directive 94/9/EC (the ATEX directive, named after the French designation
“ATmosphères EXplosives”).

„Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electronic
equipment“ ist der Titel der EU-Richtlinie 2002/95/EG. Sie
verbietet ab 1.7.2006 im gesamten Gebiet der EU den Verkauf
von elektrischen Geräten, welche mehr als nur Spuren von
Blei, Cadmium, Chrom VI, Quecksilber oder von polybromierten
Flammhemmern PBB/PBDE enthalten.
“Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electronic
equipment” is the title of EC Directive 2002/95/EC. With effect from
1 July 2006, it forbids the sale of electric equipment which contain
more than traces of lead, cadmium, chromium(VI), mercury or polybrominated
flame retardants (PBBs and PBDEs) throughout the entire EC.
