Das Helmholtz Zentrum München verfolgt als deutsches Forschungszentrum für Gesundheit und
Umwelt das Ziel, personalisierte Medizin für die Diagnose, Therapie und Prävention weit verbreiteter
Volkskrankheiten wie Diabetes mellitus und Lungenerkrankungen zu entwickeln. Wir sind Mitglied

Das ''Institute of Computational Biology'' und das Institut für Allergieforschung suchen zum
nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine/n
Doktorand/in in Biostatistik und/oder Bioinformatik (2013/2199)
Ihre Aufgaben
Es soll die Rolle von T Zellen in allergischen Hauterkrankungen wie beispielsweise Psoriasis
(Schuppenflechte) und atopisches Ekzem (Neurodermitis) untersucht werden. Das vorangige Ziel ist
die Entwicklung neuer therapeutischer Ansätze durch die Charakterisierung von T Zellen anhand
ihrer Interaktion mit verschiedenen Zelltypen und der zu Grunde liegenden Pathogenese.
- Analyse von Hochdurchsatz Einzelzell- und Populations-Daten (z. B. Microarray, Methylierung,
NGS-Daten)
- Analyse und Modellierung der Heterogenität von T Zellen
- Untersuchung des Phänotyps und der Regulation von T Zellen
- Entwicklung von T Zell-Landkarten, mit deren Hilfe man einzelne T Zellen in komplexen
Erkrankungen identifizieren und gezielt therapeutisch modulieren kann
Ihre Qualifikation
- Master/ Diplom in Biotechnologie, Biostatistik, Bioinformatik, Mathematik, Physik oder einer
vergleichbaren Fachrichtung
- Kenntnisse in maschinellen Lernverfahren, statistischen Analysen und Programmierung
- besonderes Interesse an der biologischen Interpretation der erzielten Ergebnisse
- Interesse an Interaktionen mit Kollegen in einer interdisziplinären Umgebung

Job Description
Project description:
We attempt to understand the role of T cells in skin deseases such as psoriasis and atopic exzema.
The ultimate goal is the development of new therapeutic targets by characterizing T cells according
to their interactions with different cell types and by understanding the underlying pathogenesis.
- Analysis of population and single-cell high-throughput data (e.g. microarray, methylation, NGS
data)
- Analysis and modelling of T cell heterogeneity
- Study phenotype and regulation of T cells
- Development of T cell "landmarks" which help to identify individual T cells in complex diseases and
to target them with the appropriate therapy
Your Qualifications
- Masters/Diploma in biotechnology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, mathematics, physics or a related
discipline
- Background in machine learning, statistical analyses and programming
- Profound affinity to the biological interpretation of achieved results
- Comfortable at interacting with celleagues in an interdisciplinary setting
