The automotive industry is
a growth driver
Rhineland-Palatinate is an especially
favourable business location. This is
supported by numerous comparisons
in central economic parameters with
other federal states. According to the
Federal Employment Office and the State
Statistical Office of Baden- Württemberg,
Rhineland-Palatinate took the top places
in the ranking of the federal states in
2013 in a number of categories, including
employment figures and export quotas.
A considerable share of the high export
quota can be attributed to the highperformance
automobile industry and
its suppliers in the state. This positive
economic development is facilitated
by numerous structural, social and
geographical factors:
● High-performance social facilities – direct
access to politicians and to problemsolving,
as well as an efficient, functioning
political labour system
● High-performance universities, qualificat ion
institutes and a highly motivated population
that is competent in many fields
● The geostrategic location and good
infrastructure in terms of transport routes,
means of transport and associated logistic
options strengthen the economy. The
proximity to Frankfurt am Main Airport
allows the reduction of time and transaction
costs in an increasi ngly globalised world.
