Der Gründer von Pakboats - Alv Elvestad - blickt auf eine jahrzehntelange Erfahrung <strong>als</strong> Paddler zurück. Aufgrund von vielen Expeditionen, bei denen er auf flexibel<br />
einsetzbare und mobile Faltkanadier angewiesen war, kristallisierte sich schnell heraus, dass kaum ein Boot den Ansprüchen genügte. Um dem Abhilfe zu schaffen,<br />
gab es nur eine Möglichkeit: Die Entwicklung eines eigenen Faltkanadiers. Das war zugleich der Startschuss für die spätere Serienproduktion der PakCanoes. Das<br />
liegt bereits Jahre zurück und seitdem hat sich viel getan.<br />
Die eigene Praxiserfahrung, das Know-How um die einzusetzenden Materialien und der eigene hohe Anspruch ließen ein Boot entstehen, welches heutzutage<br />
Expeditionen in alle Winkel der Erde verlässlich begleitet. Pakboats hat sich in den letzten Jahren zusammen mit einem norwegischen Mitbewerber zum<br />
bedeutendsten Hersteller von Faltkanadiern entwickelt. Nach den Erfolgen mit den Kanadiern entwickelte Pakboats <strong>als</strong> konsequenten weiteren Schritt auch Faltkajaks,<br />
die sich ebenfalls einer überaus großen Beliebtheit erfreuen: die ultraleichten Boote der Puffin-Serie, das XT-16 Tourenkajak und die neue Quest-Serie.<br />
Alle Kajaks von Pakboats verfügen über ein sehr leichtes Gewicht (Puffins: Zwischen 9 kg und 12 kg; XT 16: 22,5 kg; Quest: 13,2 bzw. 14,5 kg) und dazu noch über<br />
eines der kleinsten Packmaße im gesamten Faltbootsegment (Sporttaschenformat). Damit eignen sie sich wirklich <strong>als</strong> Boote, die man einfach immer und überall<br />
dabei haben kann.<br />
Sowohl die Puffins, die im Freizeitbereich angesiedelt sind, wie auch das XT 16 und die Quest-Serie, welche zur Klasse der Tourenkajaks gezählt werden, werden<br />
weltweit von Paddlern geschätzt und von Fachmagazinen aus aller Welt gelobt.<br />
Pakboats - Folding canoes for expeditions and light-weight kayaks<br />
Alv Elvestad, the founder of Pakboats, has experiences with paddling for decades. Due to many expeditions - mainly in rough conditions - he was dependend on<br />
reliable folding canoes that could be moved to every place. Alv realised very soon that the existing folding canoes did not measure up to the requirements that<br />
were needed. Thus, there was only one way to solve this problem: the development of an own folding canoe that really can be used for expeditions. That was the<br />
beginning of the success story of the PakCanoes. Today, the PakCanoes are used for expeditions all over the world. The own practical experiences, the know-how<br />
about the right materi<strong>als</strong> and the will to build a boat that is better than the existing ones made the PakCanoes to very succesful canoes.<br />
After having launched the PakCanoes, Pakboats startet to develop recreational folding kayaks - the Puffin series. The boats were received with enthusiasm by those<br />
who tried them. The Puffins are extremely light and perform well. The lightest one of the Puffin series has a weight of only 9 kg and each one is packed in one small<br />
bag.<br />
The XT 16 and the two Quest kayaks are used for touring. One special feature of the XT 16 is e.g. that the frame is assembled outside the hull. This leads to a fast<br />
and easy assembling of the kayak. Each kayak is packed in a single, <strong>com</strong>pact bag. Besides countless paddlers who are happy with their Pakboat you can <strong>als</strong>o read a<br />
