HASTINGS
March 8th-15th, 2003
Fourth Form
A: pupil staying at school
B: pupil coming back from Hastings
A: Did you enjoy your flight to London Heathrow?
B: Yes, it was exciting, because we were above the clouds and closer to the sun.
A: Were there any problems at the airport?
B: Well, not really. Apart from the fact that some of us had scissors in the hand luggage and
Sabrina’s suitcase was damaged.
A: What was the weather like?
B: On the first day, when we went to Beachy Head, we were nearly blown off the cliffs, but
then the weather changed for the better. At the end of the week we even had sunshine.
A: What about your host family? When did you first see them?
B: They picked us up in Sea Road and took us to the house by car. The house looked great
outside, but the rooms were rather small. All in all our family was very friendly and I did
understand them quite well, though my English is not the best.
A: Did you like the food?
B: It was not too bad, but it can’t be compared to
Austrian food.
A: What did you have for breakfast?
B: We had toast, jam, orange juice and of course
tea with milk.
A: Did you really drink tea with milk?
B: At first we were not too sure about it, but when
we tried it, we found out that it was
delicious. We had at least three cups a day.
Basically, everyone in England seems to drink a
lot of tea. It was one of the questions we asked
passers-by in Eastbourne. Would you like to see
the results?
A: Yes, sure.
