Preliminary Programme
Nowadays, our world is threatened by important
and complex ecological problems. Global warming,
extinction of the forests and rare animal species,
increasing levels of air, water and soil pollution
and natural catastrophes etc. need new
models, innovative ways of thinking, novel approaches
and multidisciplinary perspectives from
scientists, managers and decision-makers. The
multi-faceted methods guaranteed by systems
research and environmental informatics using
innovative information tools may be seen as the
new source of ideas to stand up to these challenges.
Since 1986, the EnviroInfo conference series of
the German Informatics Society (GI) have been
organized, first mainly in Germany, later in various
European countries. The EnviroInfo conference
provides an excellent communication platform for
experts in environmental informatics as well as
related scientific disciplines. It gives a possibility
for scientists, public administrations, governmental
and non-governmental bodies and organizations,
enterprises and companies to exchange and
deepen their knowledge on environmental informatics.
In 2007 the conference will be held in
Warsaw, the capital of Poland.
Hosted by the Systems Research Institute, Polish
Academy of Sciences, the conference will take
place in the stylish Staszic Palace (seat of the
board of the Polish Academy of Sciences) in the
heart of the city, 5 minutes walk from the conference
hotel and 10 minutes to Old Town and Royal
Castle in Warsaw.
