outstanding results in all areas of intralogistics.
Their products and solutions reflect the innovative
character of intralogistics the world over.
This contribution of intralogistics to progress and
prosperity, and the efforts and commitment of
the employees in the sector, should be acknowledged
and recognised.
The initiators of the IFOY AWARD have therefore
joined forces and set themselves the goal of
conferring awards for outstanding achievements
in intralogistics and thereby raising the profile of
this sector. The idea is that, once a year, newly
developed materials handling equipment and
excellent intralogistics solutions are objectively
tested and assessed by an independent jury in
line with the highest standards, and the results
then made public.
Because recognising outstanding achievements
means showing respect.
In allen Bereichen der Intralogistik erbringen Ingenieure, Entwickler und
Berater Höchstleistungen. Ihre Produkte und Lösungen stehen für den innovativen
Charakter der Intralogistik auf der ganzen Welt. Dieser Beitrag
der Intralogistikbranche zu Fortschritt und Wohlstand und das Engagement
ihrer Mitarbeiter sollen wahrgenommen und gewürdigt werden.
Die Initiatoren des IFOY AWARD haben sich deshalb dem gemeinsamen
Ziel verschrieben, Spitzenleistung in der Intralogistik auszuzeichnen und
dadurch das Ansehen der Intralogistik zu fördern. Einmal jährlich sollen
neu entwickelte Flurförderzeuge und herausragende Intralogistiklösungen,
neutral getestet nach höchsten Standards und beurteilt von einer unabhängigen
Jury, identifiziert und publiziert werden.

About
The “International Forklift Truck of the Year”
(IFOY AWARD) is an independent non-profit
organisation.
Its mission is to identify and recognise the
year‘s best intralogistics equipment and
solutions, to engage in activities in order to
assess outstanding technical and strategic
achievements in intralogistics, and to generate
stimuli for innovation. The IFOY AWARD
is sponsored by the VDMA Materials Handling
and Intralogistics Sector Association
and enjoys the patronage of the Federal
Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.
The winners are selected by an international
expert jury made up of respected trade journalists
from the leading logistics media all
over Europe.
The IFOY AWARD documents the performance
capability and innovative drive of the
materials handling sector, helping to boost
competitiveness and raise the profile of the
entire intralogistics sector in the public arena.
Consequently, the nomination and selection
process for the IFOY AWARD makes
high demands in terms of the safety, technology,
sustainability, cost efficiency, design
and ergonomics of equipment and solutions.

Der „International Forklift Truck of the Year“ (IFOY AWARD) ist eine unabhängige
Non-Profit-Organisation.
Sie verfolgt den Zweck, die besten Intralogistikprodukte und -lösungen
des Jahres auszuzeichnen und darüber hinaus Aktivitäten zu entwickeln,
um technische und strategische Bestleistungen in der Intralogistik zu bewerten
und Innovationen anzustoßen. Getragen vom Fachverband Fördertechnik
und Intralogistik im VDMA, gewählt von einer internationalen
Jury namhafter Fachjournalisten der europäischen Logistik und unter der
Schirmherrschaft des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Energie.
Der IFOY AWARD dokumentiert die Leistungsfähigkeit und Innovationskraft
der Flurförderzeugbranche und will zur Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und zur
Imageverbesserung der gesamten Intralogistikbranche in der Öffentlichkeit
beitragen. Aus diesem Grund stellen die Nominierung und Wahl zum

IFOY Categories
The IFOY AWARD is presented in five categories. It recognises the year’s
best materials handling equipment, automated guided vehicles and intralogistics
solutions in five categories. Manufacturers and system solution
providers in the field of intralogistics may submit entries for the award.
Der IFOY AWARD wird in fünf Kategorien vergeben. Er zeichnet die besten
Flurförderzeuge, fahrerlosen Transportsysteme und intralogistischen
Lösungen des Jahres in fünf Kategorien aus. Berechtigt zur Bewerbung
sind Hersteller und Systemanbieter der Intralogistik.
Assessment criteria
The jury assesses the innovative drive,
technology, design, ergonomics, handling,
safety, cost effectiveness and sustainability
of newly developed materials handling
equipment. Particular importance is attached
to the innovative character of newly
developed trucks.
In the category “intralogistics solutions”,
the primary criteria are the innovative quality
and the proven success of an integrated
intralogistics solution in a specific application.
In this category, the jury attaches importance
to the detailed presentation of the
solution and provable success. The entered
solution is assessed with regard to novel/
innovative quality, customer benefit, sustainability
and marketability. Key performance
figures must be submitted to document the
success of the solution.
Bewertungskriterien
Die Jury bewertet in den Gerätekategorien die Kriterien Innovation und
Technik, Design, Ergonomie und Handling, Sicherheit, Wirtschaftlichkeit
sowie Nachhaltigkeit von neu entwickelten Flurförderzeugen. Ein Schwerpunkt
liegt auf dem Innovationswert neu entwickelter Fahrzeuge.
In der Kategorie Intralogistics Solutions zählen der Innovationswert und
Kundennutzen einer integrierten intralogistischen Gesamtlösung in einem
konkreten Anwendungsfall. In dieser Kategorie legt die Jury Wert auf die
detaillierte Darstellung der Lösung und einen nachweisbaren Erfolg.
Bewertet werden Neuheitswert/Innovation, Kundennutzen, Nachhaltigkeit
und Marktfähigkeit der eingereichten Bewerbung. Kennzahlen zur Dokumentation
des Erfolges sind obligatorisch.

IFOY Test Week
All nominated trucks must undergo a purpose-developed
IFOY Test over the course of one week as well as the IFOY
Innovation Check, which measures the hard facts and assesses
the innovative character of the nominees in detail. The
jury comes together from all over Europe to test the finalists.
IFOY Testwoche
Alle nominierten Fahrzeuge müssen sich eine Woche lang
einem eigens entwickelten IFOY Test sowie dem IFOY
Innovation Check unterziehen, der die harten Fakten misst
und den Innovationswert der Nominierten im Detail beurteilt.
Die Jury kommt aus ganz Europa zusammen, um die
Finalisten zu testen.

IFOY Process
Terms of Participation
Manufacturers may enter one or more
trucks/concepts for the IFOY AWARD. When
the entry phase begins in October, an entry
portal (www.ifoy.org) is opened for easy and
convenient input of the entry data. Entries
and nominations for the IFOY AWARD are
subject to the following conditions:
The truck must be available on the
European market.
The truck must be newly developed or
possess significant technical improvements
compared to the predecessor
models.
Further developments and special
models with significant innovations are
admissible.
At the time of nomination the trucks
must be in production; it must be
possible to order the trucks.
Studies, prototypes, blueprints or minor
optical facelifts are not sufficient.
The entered system solutions must
already have been implemented.
The updated entry formalities and fees
are listed at www.IFOY.org or can be
requested from the IFOY office.
In the case of doubt, the IFOY office
decides on the admissibility of an entry.
Teilnahmebedingungen
Hersteller können sich mit einem oder mehreren Fahrzeugen/Konzepten
für den IFOY AWARD bewerben. Mit dem Start der Bewerbungsphase im
Oktober öffnet ein Bewerberportal (www.ifoy.org), das die Eingabe der Bewerbungsdaten
komfortabel und einfach macht.
Die Bewerbung und Nominierung zum IFOY sind an Voraussetzungen geknüpft.
Diese sind:
Die Fahrzeug muss auf dem europäischen Markt angeboten werden.
Bei dem Fahrzeug muss es sich um eine Neuentwicklung handeln
oder das Fahrzeug muss signifikante technische Verbesserungen
gegenüber den Vorgängermodellen aufweisen.
Weiterentwicklungen und Sondermodelle mit signifikanten Neuerungen
sind zugelassen.
Zum Zeitpunkt der Nominierung muss das Fahrzeug produziert
werden und bestellbar sein.
Eine Studie, ein Prototyp, eine Blaupause oder ein geringfügiges
optisches Facelift genügen nicht.
Die eingereichten Systemlösungen müssen umgesetzt sein.
Die aktuellen Bewerbungsformalitäten und Gebühren können unter
www.IFOY.org und in der IFOY Geschäftsstelle abgerufen werden.
Im Zweifel entscheidet die IFOY Geschäftsstelle über die Zulassung
einer Bewerbung.

IFOY Sense of Quality
A wide range of MHE vehicles and solutions
compete for victory in the five categories.
The IFOY AWARD does not compare the
nominated trucks with each other but always
with comparable vehicles that are available
on the market. For this purpose, the jury
members can draw on two key instruments
– the IFOY Test and the IFOY Innovation
Check – to help them make informed decisions.
The IFOY Test Week
All nominated trucks undergo the IFOY test
protocol and the IFOY Innovation Check
over the course of a week in a purpose-designed
testing hall. The tested parameters
include cost efficiency, energy efficiency,
sustainability, safety, ergonomics and the
design of the trucks.
In order to avoid falsification of the test
results due to external factors such as
illumination, weather conditions, aisle
widths etc. and therefore ensure comparability
of data, the test hall creates identical
ambient conditions for all entrants. Following
the testing week, all trucks and solutions
must undergo testing by the jury members
on the IFOY Test Day.
In den fünf Kategorien konkurrieren die unterschiedlichsten Fahrzeuge
und Lösungen um den Sieg. Der IFOY AWARD vergleicht nicht die nominierten
Fahrzeuge miteinander, sondern immer mit am Markt erhältlichen
vergleichbaren Geräten. Dazu stehen den Juroren mit dem IFOY Test
und dem IFOY Innovation Check zwei wesentliche Entscheidungshilfen
zur Verfügung.
Die IFOY Testwoche
Alle nominierten Fahrzeuge durchlaufen eine Woche lang in einer eigens
eingerichteten Testhalle das IFOY Testprotokoll und den IFOY Innovation
Check. Getestet werden unter anderem Wirtschaftlichkeit und Energieeffizienz,
Nachhaltigkeit, Sicherheit, Ergonomie und Design der Geräte.
Um eine Verfälschung der Testergebnisse durch äußere Einflüsse wie
zum Beispiel Beleuchtung, Wetterbedingungen oder Gangbreiten zu vermeiden
und so die Vergleichbarkeit der Daten zu gewährleisten, schafft
die Testhalle identische Umgebungsbedingungen für alle Bewerber. Im
Anschluss an die Testwoche stellen sich alle Fahrzeuge und Lösungen
am IFOY Testtag dem Urteil der Juroren.

IFOY Tested …
The IFOY Test
The IFOY Test measures the hard data and
compares it with the data for rival machines.
It focuses on the practical use of forklift
and warehouse trucks. The test parameters
include cost effectiveness and energy
efficiency, sustainability, safety, ergonomics
and design. The IFOY Test provides the
biggest comparison database of independent
test data anywhere in Europe and is
considered the benchmark for the sector. In
combination with the independent test, this
enables the jury to compare entered trucks
with their rival products, laying the foundation
for a truly objective verdict.
The IFOY Innovation Check
The innovative value is one of the most important
assessment criteria for the jury. In
the IFOY Innovation Check, scientists from
the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Material
Flow and Logistics (IML) in Dortmund
examine the innovative character of all nominated
vehicles. The expert report pinpoints
and evaluates innovative further developments
and successful new equipment combinations
as well as genuine innovations.
The IFOY Innovation Check is performed
in the Counter Balanced Truck, Warehouse
Truck und Automated Guided Vehicle categories.

In Kombination mit dem unabhängigen Test ist die Jury in der Lage, unterschiedliche
Bewerberfahrzeuge mit ihren jeweiligen Wettbewerbsprodukten
zu vergleichen und ein objektives Votum abzugeben.
Der IFOY Innovation Check
Der Innovationswert ist eines der herausragenden Bewertungskriterien
für die Jury. Für den IFOY Innovation Check prüfen Wissenschaftler des
renommierten Fraunhofer Institut für Materialfluss und Logistik (IML) in
Dortmund alle nominierten Geräte hinsichtlich ihres Innovationswertes.
In der Expertise werden sowohl innovative Weiterentwicklungen als auch
gelungene Neukompositionen sowie echte Innovationen herausgearbeitet
und beurteilt.
Der IFOY Innovation Check wird für die Gerätekategorien Counter Balanced,
Warehouse Trucks und Automated Guided Vehicles durchgeführt.

The initiator and sponsor of the International Forklift Truck of the Year
(IFOY) is the VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Sector Association.
In line with the Statutes, the sector association has placed
the organisation and selection process for the IFOY AWARD in the
hands of an independent organisation.

IFOY patron is the German Federal Ministry of Business und Energy.
Specialist Advisory Committee
The Specialist Advisory Committee advises the IFOY organisation on
technical and content-related matters. The members of the committee
represent the international manufacturers, associations, organisations
and scientists. Its specialised expertise and opinion may be
requested by the jury at any time.
Jury
Herzstück des IFOY AWARD ist die Jury. Sie bestimmt die Weiterentwicklung
des IFOY AWARD und wählt einmal jährlich die Gewinner.

The non-profit VDMA (the German Engineering
Federation) is one of the key association
service providers in Germany and
comprises the largest engineering industry
network in Europe with around 3,100 member
companies. The VDMA has 38 sector
and six regional associations, central
specialist departments with their committees
and working groups as well as service
companies.
With around 200 member companies representing
roughly 60,000 employees and an
annual production volume of approximately
19.1 billion Euros (2013), the VDMA Materials
Handling and Intralogistics Sector Association
is Europe’s leading association for
materials handling equipment. It is divided
into four specialist departments: cranes and
lifting equipment, materials handling equipment,
continuous handling equipment and
warehouse technology. The materials handling
and intralogistics sector is the secondlargest
specialist sector in the German plant
engineering industry and the number two
exporting sector, after drive engineering in
both cases.
VDMA
Der VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V.)
ist einer der bedeutendsten Verbandsdienstleister Deutschlands und
bietet mit rund 3.100 Mitgliedsunternehmen das größte Branchennetzwerk
der Investitionsgüterindustrie in Europa. Gegliedert ist die Organisation in
38 Fach- und sechs Landesverbände, zentrale Fachabteilungen mit ihren
Ausschüssen und Arbeitskreisen sowie Servicegesellschaften.
Mit seinen rund 200 Mitgliedsfirmen, die etwa 60.000 Beschäftigte und

CeMAT
The Centre for Material Flow and Logistics,
CeMAT for short, is the worldwide trade fair
platform of the intralogistics sector. Together
with its seven regional CeMAT events in
Russia, China, India, Turkey, Brazil, Australia
and Italy, the leading international CeMAT
fair in Hannover boasts over 235,000 trade
visitors around the globe. A total of 2,100
exhibitors use this trade fair network as a
professional and effective platform to present
their products and services to a regional
trade public in Hannover as well as at
local events in the world’s key markets.
The centrepiece of the CeMAT trade fair

MAT is the world’s leading intralogistics fair.
Every two years, the international intralogistics
producers (45% of them from outside
Germany) showcase their world innovations
and new products to a trade public that is no
less international. All segments of intralogistics
are represented in Hannover – from
innovative and energy-saving forklift trucks,
materials handling equipment and complex
fully automatic conveying systems to
shelving and warehouse systems as well
as state-of-the-art IT solutions. The global
exhibition for intralogistics is rounded off
by cranes, hoisting gear, access platforms,
auto-ID systems, robot logistics, packaging
technology for intralogistics, the new port
and transport logistics categories as well as
regional exhibition areas.
CeMAT
Das Centrum für Materialfluss und Logistik, kurz CeMAT, ist die weltweite
Messeplattform der Intralogistik. Die Weltleitmesse CeMAT in Hannover
mit ihren sieben regionalen CeMAT-Events in Russland, China, Indien,
der Türkei, Brasilien, Australien und Italien erreichen zusammen mehr als
235.000 Fachbesucher rund um den Erdball. Insgesamt 2.100 Aussteller
nutzen dieses Messenetzwerk, um ihre Produkte und Dienstleistungen in
Hannover, aber auch vor Ort in den wichtigsten Märkten der Welt einem
regionalen Fachpublikum professionell und effektiv zu präsentieren.
Herzstück der CeMAT-Messeplattform ist die CeMAT in Hannover. Mit
mehr als 1.000 Ausstellern und 50.000 Fachbesuchern aus aller Welt
ist sie die weltweit führende Intralogistikmesse. Alle zwei Jahre stellen
die internationalen Intralogistikproduzenten (45% Auslandsanteil) ihre
Weltneuheiten und Produktpremieren in Hannover einem nicht weniger
internationalen Fachpublikum vor. Angefangen bei innovativen und
energiesparenden Gabelstaplern und Flurförderzeugen über komplexe
vollautomatisierte Förderanlagen, Regal- und Lagersysteme bis hin zu
modernsten IT-Lösungen – in Hannover sind alle Bereiche der Intralogistik
vertreten. Krane, Hebezeuge und Hubarbeitsbühnen, Auto-ID-Systeme,
Roboterlogistik und Verpackungstechnik für die Intralogistik, die neuen Bereiche
Hafen- und Transportlogistik sowie regionale Ausstellungsschwerpunkte
komplettieren die weltumspannende Leistungsschau
der Intralogistik.
