For a long time the successful operatic works of
Mayr obscured his church works, including his
organ compositions. However, especially here his
music offers wonderful treasures, such as the five
Preludes. Mayr skillfully combines the baroque,
contrapuntal art of the organ with pleasant melodies
and thus creates a musical synthesis which offers
interesting music for those organists who are
less technically advanced.
