Kindermann’s “Harmonia organica” is one of the
last German editions with printed organ tabulature
and it is also among the oldest printed German music
works which used copper engraving. Not only
the restrained chorale arrangements, but, due to
their disposition, the preambles and fugues make
this work ideally suited for use in worship services.

The 14 Improvisations were composed for the purpose
of providing organists short pieces in a moderately
modern idiom. With these Improvisations the
organist can demonstrate the different registrations
of an organ and the possibilities for combining these
registers. They can be performed on a relatively small
instrument with 2 manuals and a (pull-down) pedal.
