Bach hat seinen ersten Schwiegervater wohl kaum
kennen gelernt. Als dieser starb, war der spätere
Schwiegersohn gerade 9 Jahre alt. Aber seine Kompositionen
sind dem jungen Bach gewiss begegnet, und
als Kind hat er von dem Älteren viel lernen können.
Was einen Johann Sebastian Bach interessiert und beschäftigt
hat, verdient auch unsere Aufmerksamkeit,
zumal es in einer sorgfältigen Edition vorliegt.
Bach could hardly have become acquainted with his
first father-in-law. When he died, the son-in-law to
be was just nine years old. But the young Bach was
surely familiar with his compositions and he would
have learned much from the works of his elder as
a child. What interested and concerned Johann
Sebastian Bach also deserves our attention, particularly
when it is available in a carefully prepared
edition.
