Gipfel der Orgelromantik
Für Organisten sind seine sechs Orgelsinfonien neben den Werken
Widors der Gipfel der französischen Orgelromantik. Viernes gesamtes Orgelschaffen
wird nun vom Carus-Verlag unter der Herausgeberschaft Jon
Laukviks und David Sangers neu ediert. Die Quellenlage ist bei Vierne
alles andere als unproblematisch: Seit Jahren zirkulieren unter Organisten
Tabellen mit den Fehlern der erhältlichen Ausgaben. Deshalb tut eine
kritische Edition not.

The supreme romantic organ music
Organists regard his six organ symphonies, along with the works of
Widor, as the summit of French romantic organ music. Vierne’s complete
organ works have now been published by Carus, newly edited by Jon
Laukvik and David Sanger. With Vierne the source material is by no
means unproblematic, for years lists have been circulated among organists
detailing the mistakes in existing publications. Therefore a critical
edition was necessary.
