2.1.1.2 Bicycle with Quick Release AxlePlease note:If you do not feel confident when fittingthe quick release for the first time,please ask your stockist.noticeableresistancefix the lever properlyDismantle the quick release and guidethe quick release axle through thecoupling unit. Push the quick releasethrough the hollow axle again andscrew on the adjusting nut, tightening itin a clockwise direction until the contactsurfaces of the quick release are upagainst the dropout. Close the quickrelease lever.The quick release is properly adjustedwhen you can clearly feel resistance asyou tighten. You should feel this resistanceabout 60° before the end of thelever movement. If it is too easy or toodifficult to move the quick release lever,slightly tighten or loosen the Q.R. adjustingnut on the other side of the hub.Please note:The thread of the adjusting nut of thequick release must be tightened on thequick release axle by at least 5 fullturns, so that adequate clamping forceis ensured. A quick release axle whichis too short can lead to accidental looseningof the rear wheel and therebyto damage or accidents.If in doubt ask your specialist dealer!Tip:For bicycles where the length of the standard quick release is insufficient, a special quick release with longer axle is available.2.1.2 Fitting the Drawbar to the Coupling UnitPush the square drawbar connectionover the coupling unit attached to thebicycle.Insert the spring clip bolt through theholes of both coupling parts andclose the clip so that the clip openingsurrounds the bolt end.Please note:Always attach the safety strap to thechain stay!Put the safety tie around the rear sectionof the bicycle frame and fasten itto the drawbar D-ring with the snaphook.Please note:A coupling, which is incorrectly fitted, could become loose and could slip sideways into the spokes during braking. There isconsiderable danger that the cyclist will fall or become injured. Please therefore always ensure before every journey that thecoupling is correctly and securely positioned.25
