interView Dr. BelZ INtervIew Dr. Belz welche drei persönlichen Dinge dürfen in ihrem neuen Büro nicht fehlen? in mein Büro gehören Bilder, Bücher und kleine wegbegleiter von meiner Familie. welche strategischen Ziele verfolgt oDU, um auch künftig erfolgreich und unabhängig zu bleiben – stichwort „oDU strategie 2016“? ganz oben steht die unternehmerische Unabhängigkeit und die kann nur erreicht werden, wenn wir auch in Zukunft ertragsorientiert wachsen. also nicht wachstum um jeden preis, sondern qualifiziertes wachstum, das die gewinne erzielt, die wir brauchen, um auch zukünftig in das Unternehmen investieren zu können. genau das haben wir in der strategie 2016 beschrieben und festgeschrieben. Dabei ist die strategie letztlich nichts anderes als die konsequente, gezielte anwendung unserer Kernkompetenzen zum Vorteil unserer Kunden und zum nutzen für oDU. wir haben sechs Kernkompetenzen identifiziert, in die wir gezielt investieren werden. Zwei davon will ich hier explizit nennen: erstens die Kompetenz der intelligenten Verknüpfung von vorhandenen Fertigungstechnologien, wobei die Betonung auf der „Verknüpfung“ liegt und zweitens die Kompetenz, mit der wachsenden Komplexität unseres geschäftes umgehen zu können. wir können die Komplexität nicht abschaffen, daher müssen wir sie nach definierten regeln zulassen und beherrschen. genau das zu erreichen, muss Ziel des oDU projektes sein. welche nächsten schritte sind hierfür geplant? Zur Umsetzung der strategie haben wir ein 3-phasen-modell entwickelt, das die nächsten fünf Jahre in eben diese drei abschnitte mit konkreten Zielen und maßnahmen für jeden Unternehmensbereich unterteilt. phase 1 beinhaltet beispielsweise die einführung einer weltweiten Vertriebssteuerung, eine Verkaufsoffensive in ausgewählten ländern mit ausgewählten produkten, den aufbau eines produktmanagements in mühldorf, die Verbesserung unserer internen prozesse (stichwort oDU projekt), eine Fokussierung auf die produkte der oDU mini-snap und oDU-mac serien, die strukturierte weiterentwicklung der oberflächentechnologie, die erarbeitung eines Konzeptes zur weiteren erschließung des medizintechnikmarktes und vieles mehr. Die einzelheiten werden von Dr. woelfl, den herren Klemisch, mittermeier, rohr und mir in den kommenden wochen mit den einzelnen abteilungen sicher noch intensiv besprochen. wohin glauben sie, wird sich die Branche entwickeln, auch in hinblick auf „schuldenkrise“, „eurodebatte“ und „kriselnder Finanzmärkte“? Da unterscheide ich die kurzfristige perspektive, die in <strong>2012</strong> und vielleicht auch noch in 2013 von Unsicherheit geprägt sein wird. weder unsere Kunden noch unsere wettbewerber trauen sich hier verlässliche aussagen zu. 6 | Der steckverbinder which three personal items have a permanent place in your new office? pictures, books and small mementos from my family belong in my office. which strategic goals is oDU pursuing in order to remain successful and independent in the future – under the theme “oDU Strategy 2016”? topping the list is business independence, and this can only be achieved by growing in the future with an eye to earnings. this means that the goal is not growth at any price, but instead qualified growth that yields the profits that will enable us to keep investing in the company in the future. this is exactly what we have described and defined in “Strategy 2016”. at the same time, the strategy is ultimately nothing more than the logical, systematic application of our core competencies to the advantage of our customers and the benefit of oDU. we have identified six core competencies in which we are going to invest systematically. I would like to mention two of these here explicitly: first, the competence of the intelligent linking of existing manufacturing technologies, whereby the emphasis is on the “linking”, and second, the competence of being able to handle the growing complexity of our business. we cannot eliminate the complexity, and so we must allow and control it according to defined rules. and this is exactly what the oDU project should have as its objective. which next steps are planned for this? to implement the strategy, we have developed a 3-phase model that divides the next five years into exactly these three segments with specific goals and measures for each area in the company. phase 1, for example, includes the introduction of global marketing control, a sales offensive in selected countries with selected products, setting up product management in mühldorf, improving our internal processes (under the oDU project), focusing on the products in the oDU mINI-SNap and oDU-maC series, the structured development of surface technology, the formulation of a concept for further developing the medical technology market and much more. Dr. woelfl, mr. Klemisch, mr. mittermeier, mr. rohr and I are certain to be discussing the details more intensely with the individual departments in the coming weeks. how do you see the branch developing, also in view of the “debt crisis”, “euro debate” and “financial market crisis”? I make a distinction here between the short-term prospects that will be marked by insecurity in <strong>2012</strong> and perhaps also still in 2013. our customers and our competitors are wary of making dependable statements here. In the longer term, or with an eye to 2015 and beyond, I am very confident that our branch is going to show positive development.
längerfristig, also mit Blick auf 2015 und darüber hinaus, bin ich sehr zuversichtlich, dass sich unsere Branche positiv weiterentwickeln wird. trotz aller Unsicherheiten im heute wissen wir doch, dass die welt und ihre Bevölkerung zunehmend energie benötigt, steigenden Bedarf an wasser und nahrung haben wird, eine verbesserte medizinische Versorgung in anspruch nehmen möchte und außerdem auf erhöhte mobilität setzt. all diese trends benötigen ein mehr an innovativen steckverbindern. Und wer wäre besser geeignet diese zu entwickeln, zu fertigen und anzubieten als oDU? ist die oDU gruppe gewappnet für konjunkturelle herausforderungen? Ja, oDU ist für solche herausforderungen gut aufgestellt. augenmaß, gespür für das sinnvoll machbare, Flexibilität und solides haushalten sind die richtigen werkzeuge in Zeiten konjunktureller schwankungen. was macht oDU für sie einzigartig? wo sehen sie besondere stärken speziell auch im Vergleich zum wettbewerb? oDU ist ein kreatives Unternehmen, in dem ideenreichtum, innovation und technischer Fortschritt gefordert und gefördert werden. Die mitarbeiter sind hoch kompetent und motiviert. Das spürt man bereits nach wenigen tagen und gesprächen. Und es ist die tief verwurzelte überzeugung, dem Kunden die bessere lösung entwickeln und anbieten zu können. Das zeichnet das Unternehmen oDU in summe gegenüber wettbewerbern aus: die Umsetzungskompetenz. was machen sie am liebsten, wenn sie sich eine auszeit vom geschäftsalltag gönnen? abschalten mit BB: mit Bewegung und Büchern. mit Bewegung meine ich natürlich nicht das Umblättern der Buchseiten. hatten sie schon gelegenheit sich etwas in der region einzuleben? nein, noch nicht wirklich. aber das wird kommen. meine Frau und ich erstellen schon eine liste mit dem titel „Da müssen wir hin, das müssen wir uns ansehen“. insider tipps sind selbstverständlich willkommen. Von 2006 bis 2011 verantwortete er als Vorstand das geschäft der weidmüller ag, einem marktführer im Bereich der industriellen Verbindungstechnik. interView Dr. BelZ INtervIew Dr. Belz In spite of all of today’s uncertainties, we know that the world and its people will need more and more energy and will have a growing demand for water and food, will want to have recourse to better medical care and furthermore will be expecting improved mobility. all of these trends demand an increase in innovative connectors. and who would be better suited to develop, manufacture and offer these than oDU? Is the oDU group prepared for economic challenges? yes, oDU is well situated for such challenges. a good eye and sense of what is sensibly feasible, flexibility and solid economizing are the right tools during times of economic fluctuations. what makes oDU unique in your opinion? what do you see as oDUs special strengths, especially in comparison to the competition? oDU is a creative company in which a wealth of ideas, innovation and technical progress are demanded and encouraged. the employees are highly competent and motivated. this makes itself felt after only a few days and meetings here. and it is the deep-rooted conviction of being able to develop the better solution and offer it to the customer. altogether, this distinguishes oDU from the competition: the competence in getting things done. what is your favorite activity when you allow yourself some time off? I like to unwind with books and movement. and of course by movement, I mean more than just turning the pages of the books. have you already had a chance to get to know the region? No, not really, not yet.
