capital, Seoul. The BOPP film line is due
to commence production during the
first quarter of 2013 and represents a
major expansion of production capacity
in BOPP film for the Daelim Group with
an estimated annual production capacity
of approx. 38,000 tonnes. The new
CW1040 Series technology platform introduces
the next generation of more
compact film slitting solutions from Atlas
in web widths from 2.5 to 10.4 metres
(98–410 ins.) and delivers higher
efficiency, increased productivity and
reliability, higher quality rewind reels,
reduced noise levels and more effective,
operator-friendly control systems. Daelim
Industrial was one of the first Atlas
customers to invest in this new technology
platform and confirmed the order in
October, 2011. This latest Atlas slitter
rewinder technology features wireless
rewind arm positioning, automatic knife
positioning, direct drive web path rollers
and running speeds of up to
1,500 m/min. (4,920 ft/min.) with more
precise web tension control.
for label teC. «It gives smaller
companies the best opportunity to compete
on added-value jobs from 500 metres
upwards,» was how Label Tec Scotland’s
Paul Dunne described his new
eight-colour 10” Mark Andy P3 flexo
press - the first of its type to be installed
in Europe. The P3 is the latest addition
(Left to right) Mark Andy’s Paul Macdonald with
Label Tec’s Paul Dunne and John Phillips at the
company’s production facility in Airdrie, Scotland
to Mark Andy’s award winning Performance
Series, which was launched in
2009 and has been the company’s fastest
selling press series in its history,
with more than 165 now sold worldwide.
The Mark Andy Performance series
is upgradeable, and according to
Dunne, this was a key issue in choosing
the P3, which is the company’s largest
single investment to date. Substrates
run at Label Tec include standard 80
gsm paper stocks, semi rigid tag material,
filmic materials and metallised
stock. The P3 press is also capable of
handling light board up to 325 gsm.
Listing some of his reasons for pioneering
P3 ownership in Europe, Dunne
commented: «The shallow ink trays require
only 200 g of ink to reach the
anilox rollers because the metering
roller sits in the bottom of the ink pan.
This will encourage us to mix our own
ink in-house in the future, make only
what we need, and enjoy significant
savings.» Being Teflon coated, the ink
trays are easy to clean, and the P3’s
short web path reduces make ready
waste and maintains better web tension
– both of these grow in importance with
the number of units involved and the
length of the press.
verbessert werden. Das CellEye-Verfahren
für die Graviermaschine K500,
die als Industriestandard im Verpackungstiefdruck
gilt, basiert auf der Volumenmessung
von Gravurnäpfchen.
Das Volumen eines Näpfchens bestimmt
die Farbintensität im Tiefdruck. Bisher
wurde zur Kontrolle nur die maximale
Breite der Näpfchen gemessen, nun
werden die gesamte Form und der reale
Stichelwinkel berücksichtigt. «Mit der
Messung des realen Volumens der gravierten
Näpfchen erhöht sich die Reproduzierbarkeit
der Gravur beträchtlich.
Das spart Makulatur beim Druck», be-
