CAREN
The project was aimed at the development
and testing of a concept for the
improvement of work organization in
the field of nursing homes. By computer-based
tools, assessment and care
planning/documentation and the relating
work processes were supported and
optimized whereas the growing requirements
in the quality of the care process
have been considered. The employees
have been involved for evaluating their
requirements for an adequate process
and software design. In the long-term perspective
the project will contribute to the
safeguarding of jobs in the health sector.

Concurrent Enterprising Network of
Excellence
CE-NET aims to establish and further develop
a well co-ordinated and effective
support infrastructure throughout Europe
in order to share and exchange the latest
developments in the domain of Concurrent
Enterprising.

EFRB
Mobile Power Supply for Vehicles
with Large Cruising Range and High
Acceleration
The Lead Project EFRB developed an
electrical drive train for road vehicles
that overcomes the current restrictions
regarding cruising range, acceleration,
dependability and price. A combination
of zinc-air battery, NiMH battery and
UltraCap provides the necessary energy
and power densities. Depending on the
current needs specially developed control
strategies allow for the optimal use of
each energy storage system.

CORMA
Practical Methods and Tools for
Corporate Knowledge the Extended
Management – Sharing and
Capitalising Engineering Know-How
in Enterprise
CORMA aimed to develop a knowledge
management environment consisting of
integrated methods, tools, knowledge
representation models and training materials
to support the new product development
process in „Concurrent Enterprises“
in the telecommunication sector. The
tools and techniques are used to improve
existing practices of customer-supplier
knowledge transfer, share and use by
improving the formulation of customersupplier
knowledge and making it more
accessible for the development of a
more effective new product development
process in the extended supply chain.

Depalletierroboter
Aim is the optimisation of logistics processes.
In this project it was developed a
robot system for the automated removal
of europallets (predefined packaged
goods). Conception and processing of
the fourfold gripper and the implementation
of the whole robot system were
realised.

DIREC2TOOL
The Direct Production of Net Shaped
Metal Tools for the Casting and
Moulding Industry
The project developed a PC based CAD
independent software system which
couples the novel Selective Laser Melting
(SLM) process of making fully dense net
shape metal components to achieve
high quality tooling which has lower cost
and shorter lead times than conventional
tooling. The result provides a complete
toolmaking process capability currently
not available.

ECOLEAD
European Collaborative Networked
Organizations Leadership Initiative
The project deals with the analysis, evaluation
and design of collaborative networks.
Altogether 20 partners from Europe
and South America collaborate with each
other. BIBA is esspecially involved in the
analysis of virtual breeding environments
and Virtual organisation management.
