Alt-Bundesrat und Ehrenstarter
am 11. Zermatt Marathon 2012
Herr Ogi, Sie sind Ehrenstarter beim diesjährigen Zermatt
Marathon und schicken am 7. Juli 2012 zwischen
1600–1800 Läuferinnen und Läufer aus der ganzen Welt
auf die Strecke – was bedeutet das für Sie?
Eine grosse Ehre und eine grosse Freude. Laufen in dieser herrlichen
Bergwelt bringt echte Lebensfreude!
Sie sind mit dem Sport stark verbunden – würde es Sie
reizen, den Zermatt Marathon zu laufen?
Reizen ja, aber mein Knie erlaubt im jetzigen Moment keine Teilnahme.
Schade, aber ich freue mich auf den Ehrenstart.
Welche Querverbindungen machen Sie mit einem Marathonlauf
und dem Leben im Alltag?
Das Leben ist ein Marathonlauf. Wichtig ist, dass man alle Schwächen,
die man bei einem Marathon-Lauf überwinden muss, überwinden
kann und will.
Ihre Tochter Caroline Ogi läuft mit ihrer Freundin den
Staffel-Marathon. Welche Gedanken geben Sie ihr mit
auf den Weg?
Caroline ist routiniert genug vom New York City Marathon und
vom GP von Bern her. Sie braucht von mir in dieser Hinsicht keine
Ratschläge, aber motivieren werde ich Caroline sicher.
Werden Sie den Sieger des diesjährigen Zermatt Marathons
auf dem Riffelberg um ca. 11.45 Uhr persönlich in
Empfang nehmen?
Ich habe an diesem Tag einen gedrängten Terminkalender, aber
wenn es irgendwie geht, werde ich auf dem Berg sein.
Was wünschen Sie all den Läuferinnen und Läufern, welche
am 7. Juli 2012 vom tiefsten Tal der Schweiz zum
schönsten Marathon-Ziel Europas laufen?
Ich hoffe, dass sie auch noch Zeit finden, die herrliche Natur zu
geniessen und auf Körper und Geist einwirken zu lassen.

State Councillor and Honorary starter
for the 11 th Zermatt Marathon 2012
Mr Ogi, you are the Honorary starter for this years Zermatt
Marathons and you will send off, between 1600
and 1800 starters from around the world on the 7 th July
2012. What does this mean to you?
This is a big honour and a great pleasure. To run in this beautiful
mountain surroundings truly brings real pleasure and happiness.
You are strongly connected to sport. – Would running the
Zermatt Marathon inspire you?
Inspire yes, but at this moment, my knee does not allow me to take
part. It’s a pity, but I’m looking forward to be the honorary starter.
What comparison would you make between a marathon
and daily life in general?
Life is a marathon. It is important that you conquer all your weaknesses,
which in life you should and want to overcome.
Your daughter Caroline Ogi, along with her friend, is running
the Relay Marathon. What advice would you give
her along the way?
Caroline has enough experience from the New York City Marathon
and from the GP in Bern. She does not need any of my running
advice, but I will defiantly motivate her none the less.
Will you be there to personally welcome this years Zermatt
Marathon winner at approximately 11.45 am on
the Riffelberg?
Unfortunately, my agenda is full on that day, but if it is in any way
possible, I will be standing on the mountain to welcome the winner.
What do you wish all the participants, starting the Zermatt
Marathon, from the deepest valley in Switzerland,
to the most beautiful marathon destination in Europe?
I hope that every runner will be able to find the time to enjoy the
natural beauty of the course which will positively effect their body
and mind.
