„Größe ist nicht entscheidend!“
An idea wins recognition
fehle.
Platz.
You are a lot smaller than some of your
opponents – do you see that as a disadvantage
or maybe even an advantage?
Well, I don’t see a problem with that on the
court. I think size isn’t that important in tennis. Being fast and playing clever are much more important.
Apart from that: why should I break my head about it – I can’t change it anyway.
You still go to school – is it difficult to combine school and tennis?
Not really. Luckily, I am quite good at school and it doesn’t cost me too much time. And it is no problem if
I miss a couple of days every now and then. It’s possible to combine school and tennis with a good organisation,
but basically school is my top priority. You never know what happens in tennis – a severe injury and
the career might be over. So being without a leaving certificate is not a good idea.
How much time does the schoolwork leave you for tennis?
I spend two hours on the court every day. But in the future I also want to work out more.
Who are your idols, your favourite players?
Well, Federer is the greatest, he plays almost perfectly – but personally my idols are players such as Nadal or
Moya – they resemble my style of playing tennis more than Federer does. Damir, thank you very much and
all the best for your future.
