The quality of life in Florida’s<br />
Heartland is enhanced by a<br />
diversity of cultural amenities.<br />
Right here in <strong>Sebring</strong> and<br />
Highlands County, art exhibits, art<br />
shows, crafts fairs and performing<br />
arts presentations contribute to a<br />
lively cultural atmosphere.<br />
Highlands Art League offers a<br />
multitude of classes in painting,<br />
sculpture and crafts for all ages. The<br />
annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival<br />
in November in Downtown <strong>Sebring</strong><br />
draws attendees and vendors from<br />
around the state and nation. HAL<br />
also hosts an Artist of the Month<br />
reception the second Friday of each<br />
month, often coinciding with special<br />
downtown events. In addition,<br />
Highlands Museum of the Arts,<br />
which neighbors Highlands Little<br />
Theatre, has an ongoing schedule of<br />
art exhibits.<br />
The Heartland Cultural Alliance is<br />
another group for artists, featuring<br />
a gallery with rotating exhibits at<br />
the <strong>Sebring</strong> Regional Airport.<br />
Located near the center of downtown<br />
is the Allen Altvater Cultural<br />
Center, which encompasses MOTA,<br />
HLT, <strong>Sebring</strong> Public Library and the<br />
<strong>Sebring</strong> Historical Society. Performing<br />
arts and live theater are well<br />
represented by HLT, an organization<br />
of committed volunteers who<br />
present the highest quality in musical,<br />
variety and dramatic theater on<br />
a year-round schedule. Local directors,<br />
actors and musicians combine<br />
skills and talents to provide performances<br />
equal to those found in<br />
larger metropolitan areas.<br />
