One of Sebring’s greatest
claims to fame is that it is
home to Sebring International
Raceway, a world-renown race
track that is recognized as one of the
most demanding on both cars and
drivers. For this reason, the track
is a favorite test facility for racing
teams from all over the country, as
well as some foreign teams, such as
Audi Sport Team Joest.
The biggest event is naturally the
Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring
Fueled by Fresh From Florida, which
will next take place March 15 to 18,
2017. A new feature in 2017 is the
Highlands County resident discount,
where county residents can
purchase a four-day ticket for just
$50 with a valid photo ID. Discount

prior to Feb. 24.
The 2017 race – the 65th anniversary
of America’s oldest endurance
race – will have some special events
planned by the track, as well as
completely new regulations for the
Prototype class, the fastest cars out
there, and is an event you won’t
want to miss.
Those who don’t get excited over the
prospect of fast cars can still find
something to do at Sebring International
Raceway on Feb. 25 and 26,
2017, when the Sebring Seafood &
Music Festival takes place.
This community event will feature
seafood vendors from the coast plus
other food varieties, like barbecue,
gator tail, pizza, soft serve ice cream,
snow cones, cotton candy, funnel
cakes and more. Draft beer and soft
drinks will be on hand, and craft
and retail vendors will be onsite in a
“vendor tent city.”
Nine bands will take to the main
stage, with music ranging from
modern and classic country to
Southern rock and blues. The flat
grass area where the event will be
held is perfect for lawn chairs and
blankets.
2016 12 Hours of Sebring

A kid’s zone will have bounce houses,
a rock climbing wall, pony rides,
giant slide, exotic animal exhibit,
Velcro wall and more. Cost is $5 per
child for a wristband that is good for
the whole day.
Admission to the festival is $5 per day
at the gate and children 12 and under

Those who long for the sportscars
of yesteryear will no doubt want
to attend the Classic 12 Hours of
Sebring, which will take place in
early December 2017.
Cars from the 1950s up through
newer cars will be racing during the
weekend, which has been patterned
after the immensely popular Classic
24 Hour at Daytona, so there
isn’t actually one 12-hour race, but
a series of races that begin one right
after the other, so that fans can see
all the different types of cars on
