We Need Your Current Email Address! by Becky Barlar, FSMTA Newsletter Editor When you renew your MTNA and FSMTA dues, be sure to include your current email address with your renewal. This will enable you to receive your FSMTA newsletter without interruption when we convert from the print format to the online format with the August 2011 issue of the newsletter. If you are uncertain whether or not we have your correct information, please send an email to Vice-President for Membership Anna Fagan at anna_fagan@hotmail.com and she will update your email address in her database if she does not already have the correct information. We want all of our members to have access to the newsletter, so your cooperation in this matter is vital. Thanks in advance for your help. Page 3 President’s Message continued from front page time of this writing they have received contributions from Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia MTA’s, many individuals, and a church in Tennessee who replaced one of the student’s pianos. Although we think of our common bond as our membership in MTNA or Southern Division or FSMTA, it is often a tragedy like this one that focuses us on what really binds us together. Florida has been fortunate in the last few years not to suffer the devastating effects of a widespread natural disaster. As residents of Florida, we all know that that can change any day, and we could find ourselves relying on the generosity of others to rebuild lives. With that in mind, I encourage each of you to do two things. First, visit the AMTA website at http://www.almta.org" www.almta.org and click the “Tornado Recovery Fund/Music Replacement Project” link for more information. Second, consider making a personal, tax-deductible donation in support of the teacher in Pleasant Grove and all of our colleagues in Alabama. If you choose to do so, checks should be made payable to AMTA and sent to the AMTA Treasurer Alice Eaton, 116 Woodland Trail, Madison, AL, 35758. Please write “Tornado Recovery Fund” in the memo line of your check. If I may speak on behalf of AMTA, the Greek proverb, “A gift, though small, is welcome,” seems most appropriate.
