In the present record, the research activity developed by the group “Materials Science and Engineering”during the period
2000-2005 is detailed. This group belongs to the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering and
Inorganic Chemistry in the University of Cádiz.
� Has published 35 artícles in Journal/Book Citation Report journals during the year 2005.
� Has maintained and intense activity during the last years regarding the obtention and realization of research and
development national and european projects, within the R&D National Plans, the Marcos European Programs and
other bilateral actions for research collaborations. These projects are mainly centered on the research and
development of materials for telecommunications.

� On the other hand, during the last five years, the team has been responsible for the acquisition, selection and setting
of scientific equipments of 3,9 millions euros’ worth. The following scientific-technological endowments are specially
referenced:

� The production of the group during the last two decades has as a consequence the acquisition of an excellence in its
research lines that has made posible the integration in the SANDiE Network of Excellence, within the VI Marco
European Project. The endowments granted to this network is of 9,2 M€, from which 370.800 € have been assigned
to the TEP-120 group.One of the main objectives of this network is the integration of the European Groups of
Excellence in the Production Technologies of self-assembled semiconducting materials for applications in
photonics and electronics. In the VI Marco Program call in which this network was achieved, only 17 Networks of
Excellence were conceded in the whole European Union in the area of Nanoscience, Materials and Production
Processes. The percentage of accepted Networks of Excellence solicitudes was only of a 4%.
