Metallic Mineral Deposits<br />

The petrology and genesis <strong>of</strong> metalli-<br />

ferous ora deposits. The description <strong>of</strong><br />

classic deposits;,the stability <strong>of</strong> ore<br />

minerals; ore minerals in aqueous<br />

systems. The laboratorY will include<br />

instruction and practice in ore micros-<br />

copy.<br />

Field Study<br />

Depending on the demand and the<br />

availability <strong>of</strong> an instructor, a six week<br />

field course may be <strong>of</strong>fered in an area<br />

<strong>of</strong> unusual geological interest during the<br />

spring or summer. This course will<br />

consist <strong>of</strong> two weeks <strong>of</strong> classroom<br />

lectures and one month in the field<br />

location. Expenses are to be paid by<br />

the student.<br />

Field C:ourse<br />

One or more geology field trips<br />

normally conducted at the beginning <strong>of</strong><br />

the Fall term. These trips will empha-<br />

size fielld observations <strong>of</strong> a wide-<br />

ranging1 nature: some trips will augment<br />

field observations with study <strong>of</strong> speci-<br />

mens, core laboratory data, etc. Field<br />

exercises and reports may be part <strong>of</strong><br />

the requirements. Enrolment limits will<br />

apply to all trips.<br />

Honours Earth Sciences students are<br />

required to attend at least one <strong>of</strong> these<br />

trips. Open to other students on/y if<br />

places are available.<br />

lntroductlon to Microeconomlcs<br />

An introduction to the central economic<br />

problems <strong>of</strong> society, the functioning <strong>of</strong> a<br />

mixed enterprise system, the economic<br />

role <strong>of</strong> government, the composition <strong>of</strong><br />

and pricing <strong>of</strong> national output, pricing <strong>of</strong><br />

productive factors, and income distribution.<br />

Prereq: “M” sections on/y: Grade 13<br />

or OAC in algebra or calculus. When<br />

appropriate, calculus and algebra will<br />
