The FIREX Suspended Ceiling Systems are used to provide fire resistance and insulation for general
building services and plenum space and protected lobbies and corridors. They are tested in accordance
with BS 476: Part 22: 1987. The FIREX Suspended Ceiling System constructed using only one layer of
6 mm FIREX BOARD can achieve 5 hours integrity in accordance with BS 476: Part 22: 1987 –

1) FIREX BOARD 1 x 6 mm thick
2) Ceiling U channel 76 x 34 x 0.6 mm
(610 x 1220 mm spacing)
3) Steel angle 50 x 50 x 0.6 mm
4) M4 self-tapping screws with 15 mm dia. x 1.1 mm thick
washers at approx. 200 mm centres.
5) 1.8 mm dia. iron string at approx. 1200 mm centres.
6) 6 mm dia. concrete nail at approx. 500 mm centres.
7) Recessed light fitting.
8) FIREX BOARD access panel with edge reinforced by
0.6 mm thick steel channels.

Notes:
Self-tapping screws with a head diameter of 11 mm could be used in lieu of washers. The fire rating for this construction
will be at least 4 hours integrity in accordance with BS 476: Part 22: 1987.
Painting or decorative surface treatment can be applied on FIREX Suspended Ceilings.
FIREX BOARD access panel has a fire-rating of 4 hours integrity in accordance with BS 476: Part 22: 1987.
