HEALTH<br />
Kolkata, West Bengal : During the month of September, 2009, 60<br />
patients were examined in the permanent eye testing camp at Vivekanand<br />
Road. 28 spects were distributed to the needy patients.<br />
Karimganj, Assam : Branch organised a free cataract detection<br />
and operation camp on 3rd November 2009 at N.N.T.C.M.V. School with<br />
technical assistance from Lion's Eye Hospital Silchar. 250 patients were<br />
examined and medicines worth Rs. 15,250/- only were distributed among<br />
them free of cost. 60 patients were selected for cataract operation IOL<br />
which was done successfully at Lion's Eye Hospital, on 4th November,<br />
2009. The camp was sponsored by Maharani Saree, Kolkata.<br />
Dhubri, Assam West : A cleft-lip with palate check-up camp was<br />
organized at District Disability Rehabilitation centre, on 12.11.2009 in<br />
callaboration with Institute of child and women Health care governed by<br />
Dr. Kuntal Goswami Charitable Trust, Guwahati and Smile Train Project,<br />
U.S.A. A total 17 patients were identified for corrective surgery. Dr. Utpal<br />
Tahbildar and Dr. Arun Kakoti extended their helping hand in the camp.<br />
C-Block <strong>Jan</strong>akpuri, Delhi South : A free Eye check-up cum<br />
medical camp was held in Geeta Mandir on 21.10.2009. About 70 persons<br />
were examined by photos of eye. 2 Dental check-up camps were organized<br />
with the help of our Dental van where about 80 persons were provided<br />
relief & treatment at a negligible cost. We spent Rs. 1000/- on these<br />
camps.<br />
B-Block <strong>Jan</strong>akpuri : A contribution of Rs. 50,000/- for Viklang<br />
Hospital at Delhi was presented to Shri I.D. Ojha National Working<br />
President at a function on 05.10.2009. A lecture by a renowned speaker<br />
was arranged on Nar seva naryan seva on 25.10.2009. 4 Dental camps<br />
were arranged benefiting 33 Dental & De-addiction cases.<br />
Alaknanda : Branch in association with Aravali Residents Welfare<br />
Association, organised free super specialised Health check-up camp on<br />
1st November 2009 at Aravali Appartments. Specialists from Pushpawati<br />
Singhania Research Institute (PSRI Hospital) carried out complete<br />
Physical Examination, Blood sugar screening, Urine Routine Examination,<br />
Uroflowmetry Test for enlarged prostate, Detetion, consultations for Liver<br />
& Digestive, Kidney and Urinary system related diseases. Around 100<br />
persons availed of this facility.<br />
Prayag, Allahabad : Justice A.K. Yog of Allahabad High Court<br />
was the chief guest in the Eye check-up and operation camp organised<br />
by Prayag Shakha at Shri Charitable Netralaya & research centre, Elgin<br />
road, on October 10.2009. 26 patients were examined by a team of<br />
Doctors comprising Dr. R.P. Singh, Dr. T.N. Vyas, Dr. Arpita, Dr. J.K.<br />

Mishra etc. Later 11 cataract operations were performed. Past Rotary<br />
Presidents Dr. R.N. Mishra and Mrs. Vinita Bahuguna were the guests of<br />
honour. Chief Guest Yog closely observed the whole programme and<br />
said he was extremely pleased to see the meaningful efforts of Prayag<br />
Shakha in serving the society and the needy. Mrs. Vinita Bahuguna also<br />
lauded the efforts of the <strong>Parishad</strong> in taking care of the needy. All Eye<br />
Surgeons expressed happiness that they could get a chance to serve<br />
the society. Earlier president P.K. Agarwala introduced the chief guest<br />
Mr. Justice A.K. Yog, guest of honour Prof. Dr. R.N. Mishra and Mrs.<br />
Vinita Bahuguna to the members and guests. The were offered a memento<br />
each.<br />
Brahmapur, Orissa : The branch has a permanent health project<br />
at Gopalpur on Sea wherein destitute and orphans are housed and nurtured<br />
regularly. Recently as a mark of celebration of 20 years of glorious health<br />
service, the branch offered medicines to other needy people of the state<br />
through Utkal Bipama Sahayata Samitee, situated at Bhubaneswar. This<br />
noble cause was highly appreciated by all.<br />
Malerkotla, Punjab East : Branch arranged following activities:<br />
lecture on Dental care at S.F.S. Sr. Sec. Public School by Dr. Mohd.<br />
Shabbir B.D.S.S.M.O. Civil Hospital; lecture on Eye care at S.S. Jain<br />
Girls School by Dr. Rakesh Arora M.S. Eye., Lecture on blood donation<br />
for the students of K.M.R.D. Jain Girls college by Dr. Rampreet Kaur<br />
M.D. path civil Hospital; Mehandi competition among students of Govt.<br />
Sr. Sec. Girls School., Rangoli competition among students of K.M.R.D<br />
Jain Girls college. 100 saplings of Tulsi were distributed to the citizens.<br />
Pilani, Rajasthan North & East : Free medical camp was organized<br />
at Shri. L.N. Birla Prakritika chikitsa yog Kendra. Inaugration was done<br />
by Col. Retd. V.N. Ratnakar, Director Birla Education Trust, & Prof. R.K.<br />
Mittal, Deputy Director Birla Institute of Technology and Science. These<br />
facilities were provided during this camp free of charge: Blood Sugar<br />
test, Bone mineral Density test, lungs check up. Services of ENT and<br />
ayurvedic Doctors Dr. R. Jaju & Dr. Kailash Bhomia were duly<br />
appreceiated. Chief guest of closing ceremony was Prof. L.K. Maheshwari,<br />
Vice Chancellor, BITS. In the camp 150 persons were benefitted. Dr.<br />
R.P. Pareek thanked all the Doctors, volunteers, the medical companies<br />
and members for their active participation in the camp.<br />
