EVENTS INSPIRE US 

January 2010. We gleefully usher the Gragarian New Year every 

time. Do rock & roll and send greetings to innumerable acquaintances all 

over. But being a Bharat Vasi do we ever think of or try to remember what 

is Bhartiya Nav Varsh? Probably not. This is because we are driven for 

away from our own cultural values. While celebrating the aforementioned 

New Year we may not be knowing the significance of the names of those 

twelve months but Bhartiya Nav Varsh have all the months named after 

various seasons of this mother earth. So, I would appeal to all our 

brotheren to celebrate with gusto our own Nav Varsha falling on 16th March 2010 which may bring peace and prosperity to all:

This month the entire nation celebrates the B’days and martyrdom 

days of couple of our revered leaders and also some festivals connected 

with change of seasons. 

The B’day of Guru Govind Singh, (5th Jan.) the tenth guru will ever 

be remembered for the establishment of Khalsa Panth. He taught us to 

be always ready for any sacrifice. Swami Vivekanand (6th Jan.) earned a 

name for his country when be spoke at the Congregation of Religious 

Leaders at Chicago by addressing the gathering as ‘My sisters & brothers 

of America’. And later he was heard with rapt attention. Swamiji, even 

today, is recognized as the Leader of youth and his B’day is celebrated 

as Youth Day (;qok fnol ). Guru Ravidas (30th Jan.) was a spiritual poet 

who by his couplets penetrated into the hearts of many. ‘You give me 

blood I will give you Freedom’ will ever be remembered while celebrating 

B’day of Subhash Chander Bose (23rd Jan.) 

The Nation also pays respectful homage to two National leaders 

in this month. A leader who gave us the slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ led 

this nation in foregoing at least one meal per week to save enough of 

wheat for its çtk& he being the Prime Minister. We salute of revered Lal 

Bahadur Shastri (11th Jan.). ‘He Ram’- the last words uttered by none 

other than Mahatma Gandhi, are engraved at his Samadhi at Rajghat in 

New Delhi that reminds us that a frail and simple leader could get the 

nation its Freedom, though belated. This day is celebrated as Martyr 

Day when at the stroke of 11 am the entire Nation observes ekSu for a 

minute to pay sincerest homage to the bespectacled n.M/kjh and to 

innumerable martyrs. Its freedom struggle brought immense cheers when 

the Nation got its own Constitution on Republic Day (26th Jan.). The 

question often asked is ‘Are we sincere in upholding the dignity of our

Nation?’ It is for the readers to answer when the country is sometimes 

ranked ahead in the field of corruption. 

Let us now move to our seasonal festivals. Lohri (13th Jan.) in 

North and Pongal in South are enjoyed during winter season. Arrange a 

Bon-Fire, sing folk songs and eat dry fruits. Basant (Panchami) (20th Jan.) ushers the spring season. Colourful flowers all around. Nature’s 

beauty in full bloom. This is the time to learn how to remain smiling like 

flower and spread fragrance all around by your sweet tongue:

Every incidence, every event teaches us something or the other. 

It is for us to grasp its essence. 

And this is what we exactly do at Bharat Vikas Parishad through 

our various projects specially during Sanskriti Saptah. 

And remember, all of us have taken a vow to expand our family 

of the Parishad- at micro as well as macro levels. This will strengthen 

the members even at the grass-root level. Add but not delete should be 

our motto. Whenever we find some leakage in the membership let us try 

to plug it by approaching such members of the Parishad. 

Let us, therefore, nurture our roots and reap the fruits as envisaged

RULE FOR REFUND OF DELEGATION / REGISTRATION FEE 

While holding some of the events the delegation/ registration fee 

is fixed by the organizers. The delegates will pay delegation / registration 

fee as fixed. 

If any delegate(s) is/are unable to attend the event, the refund will 

be made as following: 

1. Before 30 days of the commencement of the event 100% 



4. No refund will be made for less than 7 days of the commencement 

of the event. 

The fact for not attending the above event must be given in writing 

by post or e-mail so as to reach the convener of the Event with in time

BHARAT KO JANO 

Punjab East : State level Bharat Ko Jano competition was held on 

25th October, 2009 at Ropar. Written test was conducted at branch level 

on different dates. 11840 students from 148 schools participated in these 

tests. At state level both in senior and junior groups 16 students 

participated. The team of Shri Suraj Kumar Sarvahitkari Vidya Mandir 

School Sunam, District Sangrur stood first in junior level and team of 

Holy Family Convent School Ropar stood first in senior level. 

Bareta, Punjab South : BKJ competition was conducted at the 

school level in Sixteen different schools. 632 students (332 in Junior 

group and 300 in the Senior group) took part in the competition held on 5 

November 2009. 45 students in Junior and 28 in Senior group appeared 

at branch level which competition was held on 8.11. 2009 in the premises 

of Sh. Atma Ram Public School. Cheshta of green level day Boarding 

Public School baggad 1st position in Junior and Ankur garg of the same 

school 2nd position in the senior group. 

Shahpurkandi Township, Punjab North : BKJ school level written 

Test was held on 5th October in 9 schools. 204 students of junior level 

and 197 of senior level participated in the competition. On 09-10-2009 

branch level competition was organised at Shri Ram Vidya Mandir, Baroi. 

30 students of 9 schools selected during written test participated in the 

quiz competition. In Junior wing Bhawana Pathania of Shri Ram Vidya 

Mandir Baroi and in senior wing Manjit Kumar of Govt. Sr. Sec. School 

Madhopur were the winners. 

Karnataka North : State level BKJ quiz competition was held on 

8th October 2009 at IMA hall Belgaum under the auspices of Belgaum 

branch. Zonal organizing secretary Shri Hemant Deshpande inaugurated 

the function by lighting the lamp. State general secretary Shri Pandurang 

Nayak welcomed the guests. 5 teams participated in the competition. 

Dr. V.B. Yelburgi the convenor of the event was the quiz master. A visual 

round was introduced in the competition for the first time this year. Smt. 

Vasundhara Yelburji and Dr. Mrs. Abha Kulkarni were the masters of the 

ceremony. Shri B.N. Patil was the chief guest. Rastrothana Vidyakendra 

of Dharwad won the first prize in senior category and Narmadadevi School 

of Hospet won the first prize in the Junior category. 

Vidyaranya, Karnataka South : Branch conducted BKJ at RNS 

Vidyanikethan Bangalore. The event was inaugurated by Shri Jayarama 

Shetty. Principal, Shri K.V. Narahari introduced the Chief Guest and Shri 

B.V. Rao, President spoke about the importance of the event. 44 students 

from 14 schools participated in the quiz ably conducted by the convenor 

Shri S.V. Nagaraj. Prizes were distributed by Chief Guest Shri Ranganath,

Dhubri, Assam West : The state level BKJ quiz competition was 

held at District library auditorium on 1st Nov, 2009. Shri Deepak Kumar 

Barthakur, National Vice President was the inaugurator and chief guest 

of the inaugural session. Mrs. Indira Barthakur presided over the inaugural 

session. Altogether 23 teams from different parts of the state participated 

in the competition. In the senior group teams from DPS Dhaligaon, S.P. 

English Medium School, Dhubri and Srimanta Sankardev Academy, 

Guwahati got the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. In the Junior group 

teams from Don Bosco, panbazar, Guwahati, Maharshi Vidya Mandir,

HEALTH 

Kolkata, West Bengal : During the month of September, 2009, 60 

patients were examined in the permanent eye testing camp at Vivekanand 

Road. 28 spects were distributed to the needy patients. 

Karimganj, Assam : Branch organised a free cataract detection 

and operation camp on 3rd November 2009 at N.N.T.C.M.V. School with 

technical assistance from Lion's Eye Hospital Silchar. 250 patients were 

examined and medicines worth Rs. 15,250/- only were distributed among 

them free of cost. 60 patients were selected for cataract operation IOL 

which was done successfully at Lion's Eye Hospital, on 4th November, 

2009. The camp was sponsored by Maharani Saree, Kolkata. 

Dhubri, Assam West : A cleft-lip with palate check-up camp was 

organized at District Disability Rehabilitation centre, on 12.11.2009 in 

callaboration with Institute of child and women Health care governed by 

Dr. Kuntal Goswami Charitable Trust, Guwahati and Smile Train Project, 

U.S.A. A total 17 patients were identified for corrective surgery. Dr. Utpal 

Tahbildar and Dr. Arun Kakoti extended their helping hand in the camp. 

C-Block Janakpuri, Delhi South : A free Eye check-up cum 

medical camp was held in Geeta Mandir on 21.10.2009. About 70 persons 

were examined by photos of eye. 2 Dental check-up camps were organized 

with the help of our Dental van where about 80 persons were provided 

relief & treatment at a negligible cost. We spent Rs. 1000/- on these 

camps. 

B-Block Janakpuri : A contribution of Rs. 50,000/- for Viklang 

Hospital at Delhi was presented to Shri I.D. Ojha National Working 

President at a function on 05.10.2009. A lecture by a renowned speaker 

was arranged on Nar seva naryan seva on 25.10.2009. 4 Dental camps 

were arranged benefiting 33 Dental & De-addiction cases. 

Alaknanda : Branch in association with Aravali Residents Welfare 

Association, organised free super specialised Health check-up camp on 

1st November 2009 at Aravali Appartments. Specialists from Pushpawati 

Singhania Research Institute (PSRI Hospital) carried out complete 

Physical Examination, Blood sugar screening, Urine Routine Examination, 

Uroflowmetry Test for enlarged prostate, Detetion, consultations for Liver 

& Digestive, Kidney and Urinary system related diseases. Around 100 

persons availed of this facility. 

Prayag, Allahabad : Justice A.K. Yog of Allahabad High Court 

was the chief guest in the Eye check-up and operation camp organised 

by Prayag Shakha at Shri Charitable Netralaya & research centre, Elgin 

road, on October 10.2009. 26 patients were examined by a team of 

Doctors comprising Dr. R.P. Singh, Dr. T.N. Vyas, Dr. Arpita, Dr. J.K.

facilities were provided during this camp free of charge: Blood Sugar 

test, Bone mineral Density test, lungs check up. Services of ENT and 

ayurvedic Doctors Dr. R. Jaju & Dr. Kailash Bhomia were duly 

appreceiated. Chief guest of closing ceremony was Prof. L.K. Maheshwari, 

Vice Chancellor, BITS. In the camp 150 persons were benefitted. Dr.

NATIONAL GROUP SONG COMPETITION 

Kolkata, West Bengal : The branch organized NGSC on 12.09.2009 

jointly with Kolkata North East branch. 6 schools participated in the 

competition. Seth Soorajmul Jalan Balika Vidyalaya and Bikas Bharti 

Welfare society stood first and second respectively. Shri S.S. Beriwal 

and Shri Parmanand Goyal were the main guests. 

Karimgang, Assam : Branch participated at the state level NGSC 

& NSGSC held at shilpogram, panjabari Guwahati on 25th October, 2009. 

Baby Land English High School, won 3rd prize in the NGSC & regional 

song competition. The 2nd prize in both NSGSC & Folk song was won 

by Maharishi Vidya mandir. 

Tamilnadu & Pondicherry : State level NGSC for school children 

was held on 24th October 2009. The competition was in Hindi, Tamil, 

Sanskrit & Tamil Folk songs. More than 200 students from 14 schools 

through 5 city branches participated in this competition. Team of Vishva 

Vidyalaya Hr. Sec. School was the winner. The prizes were given away 

by the chief guest Padmashri Vikku Vinayakaram Ghatam Maestro in 

the P.D. function. Artificial limbs were also donated to deserving physically 

challenged person. During this function a book by Shri Vaidyanathan, on 

Vivek Choodamani in Tamil was formally released by Chandrasekarendra 

saraswathi Vishwa Vidyalaya and the first copy received by Shri Sriram. 

Karnataka South : Pranth level NGSC & NSGS competition was 

held in R.V. Dental college auditorium, Bangalore on 25th October 2009. 

18 teams from 20 branches took part in both the competitions which 

was inaugurated by Dr. Smt. S.R. Leela retired Sanskrit Professor, 

presently member of legislative council. Chief Guest was Shri N. Doulath 

Rao National additional org. secretary Presided over by Pranth President 

Shri C.N.N. Raju. Prize distribution function was held on the same day, 

Chief Guest was Shri A.V.S. Murhty Hon. Secretary RSS Trust, Prize 

distribution was done by Shri K.G. Subhrama Setty Chief Patron zone- 

XVI, Winning team Maharshi PU College, Bharadwaja Shakha, 

Mysore.First place in Kannada goes to T.A. Pai English School, Bhargava 

Shakha, Udupi, team representing Karnataka South Bangalore. First place 

in Folk goes to Shri Vani Education Centre, Vidyaranya Shakha Bangalore. 

Programme was witnessed by more than 500 persons. 

Dharwad, Karnataka North : Branch conducted NGSC on 

13.09.2009 at Mallasajjan English Medium School. K.N.K. Girls school 

and Vidyaranya High School were declared successful in Sanskrit group 

song competiton. Shri. M.V. Waddin was the chief guest Dr. Pramod 

Basarkar Prant officer presided over the Function. Shri Jagadesh Malgi 

Sanskar Pramukha and Smt. Indira J. Malgi conducted the programme. 

B-Block Janakpuri, Delhi South : NGSC & NSGSC were held at

branch level on 05.10.2009 under the Chairmanship of Shri I.D. Ojha 

National Working President in which 9 schools participated. The team 

from B-Block also secured second position in the state level competition 

held on 0.9.10.2009. This is the only branch in Delhi South conducting 

this competition at branch level since inception of the branch. 

Andhra Pradesh, North & East : Conducted state level NGSC in 

Rajahmundry on 11.10.2009. Entire town felt the Nationalism of students

&NSGSC on 27th of September 2009. Pune being affected by swine flu 

then also 40 schools participated in the competition in which 17 schools 

in Sanskrit and 23 schools in Hindi took part. DAV public school won the 

first prize in Sanskrit and BMC Junior college won the first prize in Hindi.

was organised at the adjoining 

park of Metro Station of Rohini 

East in Sector-3. GVCA was 

conducted in RR Geeta Bal 

Bharati Public School. 9 best 

students & 6 teachers were 

honoured with mementoes, gifts 

& certificates. BKJ competition 

was held in the same school. 

About 80 students, which included

A Block Janakpuri : 

Closing ceremony of the Second 

session of CPD camp was held
