Paratransit Services<br />

Tacoma Link paratransit services are provided by Pierce <strong>Transit</strong>. To obtain<br />

eligibility information for Pierce <strong>Transit</strong>’s SHUTTLE call 253-984-8216.<br />

Travel Training<br />

<strong>Sound</strong> <strong>Transit</strong> provides travel training on how to use <strong>Sound</strong> <strong>Transit</strong><br />

Services for people with disabilities and seniors. For more information<br />

call 1-800-201-4900/1-888-713-6030 TTY or e-mail<br />

accessibility@soundtransit.org.<br />

<strong>Sound</strong>er commuter rail<br />

<strong>Sound</strong>er trains, stations and platforms are accessible for riders with<br />

disabilities, seniors, those traveling in wheelchairs, scooters or with<br />

young children in strollers. Each car has a wheelchair area and<br />

accessible restrooms.<br />

For assistance boarding the train, wait at the top of the accessible ramp<br />

located on each platform. The train conductor will deploy a boarding<br />

ramp to help riders safely board the train. Board the train only when the<br />

boarding ramp is in place.<br />

ST Express regional bus<br />

ST Express buses are fully accessible. Buses are equipped with ramps<br />

or wheelchair lifts. Operators are trained and available to help riders<br />

upon request and will call out stops along the route to help you get to<br />

your destination. Contact your local transit agency to learn how you can<br />

practice riding ST Express bus and receive more information about routes<br />

and schedules (see page 128).<br />

Tacoma Link light rail<br />

Link stations and platforms are accessible for riders with disabilities,<br />

seniors, those traveling in wheelchairs, scooters or with young children<br />

in strollers. Each car has four accessible seating areas.<br />

Every train has a low-floor car with an accessibility bridge plate.<br />

Once on board, locate the reader boards or listen for the audio<br />

announcements, which indicate next station stops.<br />

In case of emergency, use the intercom to talk to the operator.<br />

Operators are trained and available to help riders upon request.<br />
