ST Express fare, zone based
The cost of riding Sound Transit Express bus service is
based on how many fare zones you travel through and
your fare type (adult, youth or senior/disabled). The
zone boundaries are: Snohomish County line, Seattle
city limits (between North and South King
County), Lake Washington and Lake Forest
Park city limits (between North and East King
County), Renton city limits (between East and
South King County), and the Pierce County line.
Refer to the map to determine your fare.
Q: How much would my fare cost traveling from
Tacoma to Everett on an ST Express bus?
A: An adult boards an ST Express bus heading to
Seattle in Tacoma, pays the $3.00 cash fare.
Once in Seattle, the rider boards an ST Express
bus bound for Everett and displays the valid
paper bus transfer received from the bus
driver in Tacoma. Even though the rider
travels in four zones during this single
trip on ST Express, the full fare is still
only $3.00 because of the valid transfer,
good for two hours of travel.
