Saudi Arabia’s Oil & Gas services conglomerate
Rawabi Holding Company along with
United Safety Limited (USL) of Canada, held
the opening ceremony of the new Technical
Operations & Training Center of their Saudibased
Joint venture Company Rawabi United
Safety Services (RUSS) located in Dammam
on Monday the 22nd of June, 2009.

Ali AlTurki hosted the event with Mr. Lee
Whittaker, CEO of USL. Many executives
from Saudi Aramco, Rawabi guests, repre-
sentatives from other Rawabi entities and
JV companies, along with RUSS’s clients attended
the event. The Opening featured a
number of presentations about the facility
and its purpose and capacity including a
“walk-in” detailed tour of the facility that
had a number of different stations manned
by RUSS’s Saudi H2S specialists and engineers.
This facility is the only specialized
H2S training facility in the GCC.
RUSS provides critical H2S safety and monitoring
services to the oil & gas drilling, transportation
and refining operations in Saudi
Arabia. The company currently employs
over 80 qualified safety specialists who are
primarily stationed at most of Saudi Aramco’s
onshore and offshore drilling sites. This
facility will help the company grow in Saudi
Arabia and the region by training and certifying
staff in H2S Awareness and H2S Alive.
RUSS prides itself for training its specialist
for a minimum of 30 days prior to releasing
them to drilling sites.
H2S is a colorless odorless gas that is released
during the drilling cycle and is considered
fatal to human life. USL has the
best H2S safety record worldwide and has
a strong and reputable history of keeping
its employees, its client’s employees and all
other associated field contractors’ employees
safe from the dangers of the H2S Gas.

In December 2008, USL was acquired by Energy
Capital Group (ECG), a private global
investment firm founded by Ali Abdulaziz
AlTurki and Malik Al-Suqair and focused
on energy and energy-related corporate
investments with a specific expertise in drilling
and oil field services, engineering and
manufacturing. The Group’s strategic key
investors include Rawabi Holdings, ATCO,
Sh. Abdulrazzak Qanbar Al-Ansari and Al-
Muhaidib Group. Morgan Stanley Principal
Investments was also a co-investor in the
transaction.

Following the formation of Rawabi’s latest
Joint Venture Rawabi Allis Chalmers Co. Ltd
(RAC), the company opened its operational
yard and offices close to Dammam Jubail
Highway.
RAC will utilize the yard to supply drill pipes
under rental basis to Saudi Aramco’s Manifa
Drilling Program.
Rawabi Swiber Offshore
Construction Co. Ltd.
Following a meeting in Bahrain
last may, Rawabi Swiber
Offshore Construction Co. Ltd. (RSOC),
managed to form a consortium with Nexans,
the world renowned leading supplier
of submarine and specialty cables, to service
the Submarine Cable Installation Project
by Saudi Aramco. The project is located
in Safaniyah fields, which consist of almost
150 kilometers of cables lines, catering to
more than 18 rig sites.
RSOC is a 50-50 owned Joint venture Company
between Rawabi Holding Company
and Swiber Holdings of Singapore formed
in late 2008.

Contracting
PCS Italiana
PCS Italiana SRL of Brandizzo (Torino), Italy,
represented by Rawabi Trading & Contracting,
Rawabi’s fully owned subsidiary, won
a cable repairs contract for Saudi Aramco’s
Marjan fields. PCS Italiana SRL will carry
out the technical and operational part of
the project while RTC will handle logistics,
support services, administration and other
operational needs.

tablished in 1991, provides a complete
range of equipment and processes for laying
and installation of submarine cables and
umbilical with a “tailor” view on Customer

Company (RCTC), a subsidiary

two (2) years of its four (4) year contract
with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), one of the
company’s major clients.
In this occasion, RCTC’s management conveys

Remal Electric
• Remal electric, the Power
and Automation arm of Rawabi
Holding, has recently delivered the 13.8 KV,
and 4.16 KV Generator control, and Sync
Panels for KAUST (King Abdullah University
of Science and Technology). This comes in
addition to the complete distribution network
equipment already supplied by Remal,
to fulfill Saudi Aramco’s specialized
requirements and the accelerated project
schedule.
• Remal Electric has recently received the
go ahead signal from Saudi Aramco to deliver
the 2 nd batch of the explosion - proof
Switchraks for the northern area off-shore
platforms, under the two years supply
agreement previously signed. The specialized
solutions offered by Remal Electric
will help in optimizing and boosting Saudi
Aramco’s Oil and Gas production facilities.
• Remal Electric continues its installation
and testing of the process control Systems
for Sipchem II, with its leading engineering
and system provider partner, Dynamysk Automation
of Canada. The project is moving
ahead within the client’s time plan, and is
expected to be completed ahead of time.
• Remal Electric lately passed a comprehensive
Audit carried out by Saudi Aramco. The
company is proud of Saudi Aramco’s valuable
contribution to its business, and in particular
its seamless contribution to boosting
local vendors business practices.
• Remal Electric passed a Quality Management
System (QMS) according to the latest
version of ISO 9001:2008, and was accredited
for same. The Audit was completed by
Kema of Holland.

services to the Saudi Arabian Oil & Gas sector.
LEONI Fiber Optics - Vienna
Mr. Osman Ibrahim and Mr. Mohammed Al Omair, Managing Director
of Rawabi Telecom & Software, traveled to Vienna, Austria,
early this summer to meet with Mr. Karl Bauer, Managing Director
of LEONI Fiber Optics, Rawabi’s partners in Rawabi Fiber Optics
Company.

Tennis Tournament
As a part of its commitment to support civic
activities, sports in particular, Rawabi Holding
Company sponsored Rawabi’s 1st Open
Tennis Tournament, held from April 24 to
May 29.
The tournament, organized by the Bankers
Tennis Association (BTA) in the Eastern Province
of Saudi Arabia, in coordination with
Mr. Emmanuel M. Jante, Rawabi Group
Acting CFO and Group Treasury Manager,
helped raise funds for the Saudi Cancer
Foundation, and the Bantay Bata Foundation,

Jeddah, Riyadh, Eastern Region, and Bahrain
participated in the men’s singles games.
At the end of the tournament, cash prizes
were given to singles winners from champions
down to quarterfinalists. Winners also
received replicas of the Rawabi Holding
perpetual trophy where names of annual
champions were engraved.

Rawabi 2nd Blood Donation Campaign

Following the great success of Rawabi’s 1st Blood Donation Campaign,
Rawabi’s Corporate Communication’s Department launched
Rawabi’s 2nd Campaign last July under the title of “Give Blood…
Save a Life” in cooperation with Dammam’s Central Blood Bank.
More than 100 Rawabi donors from different nationalities and
backgrounds showed
up at the campaign;
each were to donate
450 ml of their blood.

health in addition

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Rawabi encourages
such events to promote a culture of social work and motivate employees
