YEREVAN, Armenia, Oct. 2, 2012 - Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a global leader providing software, IP and services

be held October 3-6 in Yerevan. This event celebrates joint achievements by business, academia and the government

Synopsys Successfully Graduates 89 Advanced Engineering Students from its Armenia Education Department 

Program Prepares Future Engineers to Begin Professional Careers Benefiting Armenia's Growing High-Tech Industry 

YEREVAN, Armenia, Oct. 3, 2012 - Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a global leader providing software, IP and 

services used to accelerate innovation in chips and electronic systems, today graduated 46 Master's degree and 43 

Bachelor's degree students from Synopsys' Armenia Education Department (SAED), including 75 students from State 

Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) and 14 students from Yerevan State University (YSU) joint programs. Eight 

graduates from Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University (RAU) were awarded Synopsys Certificates of Recognition for 

their proficiency with Synopsys software tools. Having completed their coursework in the field of very large scale 

integration (VLSI) design and electronic design automation (EDA), the students are now ready to begin professional 

engineering careers.

scientist of RA, director of the SAED and head of SEUA's Microelectronic Circuits and Systems Interfaculty 

Chair. "With these achievements we are further driven to improve the program.“ 

"We have many years of experience working with the Chair of IC Design at the National Research University MIET," 

said Alexander L. Stempkovskiy, director of the Federal State Budget Institution of the Science at the Institute 

of Problems of Design in Microelectronics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPDM RAS). "The qualifications 

of MIET master's students that have studied at the Synopsys-MIET Educational Center are impressive. They 

demonstrate a deep knowledge of the IC design flow and skill in using the Synopsys' EDA tools and Matlab, Tcl 

and C/C++ to implement missing links in existing flows. They have participated in joint scientific research and 

technical projects with foreign companies such as Freescale, AMIS and ON Semiconductor, demonstrating 

ability to independently carry out complex research.”

Synopsys Hosts 418 Bright, Young Professionals from 14 Countries at the Seventh Annual International 

Microelectronics Olympiad of Armenia during Synopsys Week

services used to accelerate innovation in chips and electronic systems, today announced that the final stage of the 

Seventh Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad of Armenia took place at the Synopsys Armenia Education 

Department (SAED), with competitors winning 23 prizes in 10 categories. A full list of the winners is provided below. 

Held in conjunction with Synopsys Week in Armenia 2012, this year’s competition reflected the diversity of participants 

from 14 countries: Armenia, Belarus, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Jordan, Malaysia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, 

UAE, Ukraine and the USA. Out of the 418 competitors in the Olympiad, 191 were from Armenian universities and IT

Healthy Environment 

Inspired by Motto of “One Tree for Each Employee,” Synopsys Armenia Employees Have Planted More than 4,000 Trees in the 

Past Eight Years 

YEREVAN, Armenia, Oct. 6, 2012 – Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a global leader providing software, IP and services used to 

accelerate innovation in chips and electronic systems, today announced that, as part of its eighth annual Synopsys Armenia tree 

planting community event, about 600 employees of Synopsys Armenia CJSC, members of their families and students of the 

Synopsys Armenia Education Department (SAED) planted 1,000 thuya evergreen trees in the area surrounding the State 

Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) and the Synopsys Armenia Education Department (SAED) grounds in Yerevan. 

Driven by the motto “One tree for each employee,” Synopsys Armenia has planted more than 4,000 trees in eight years.

“This year‟s event had special meaning as employee and student volunteers came together to plant trees to 

commemorate Synopsys‟ 25th anniversary as a business and SEUA‟s 80th anniversary as a university,” 

said Dr. Chi-Foon Chan, president and co-CEO at Synopsys. “Why are we doing this? Because it's the 

right thing and it's the smart thing. Synopsys values community contribution and this is one way we can 

thank the community in which our employees live and work.” 

“Since Synopsys first established a presence in Armenia in November 2004, it has strived to be a good 

corporate citizen here. We have contributed to the progress of Armenian society by helping to improve the 

country‟s educational system and by implementing other assistance programs. The planting of these trees 

is particularly significant, because their growth symbolizes our sustained investment in Armenia,” said Mr.

beautify Armenia‟s landscape,” said Tom Garabedian, ATP managing director. “This year‟s

appreciate Synopsys‟ longstanding dedication to Armenia‟s environment.” 

“It is very symbolic that the tree planting is taking place in the area of SEUA, where [for nearly a 

decade Synopsys Armenia has been „planting talent‟ aimed at supporting the economic

will follow this example and that it becomes a tradition for Polytechnic students.”
