More than 50 people attended the first of the
Chamber’s new business networking events last
month. Online trading proved a popular subject,
but if there’s one thing more appealing than
e-commerce it’s a healthy balance sheet. This is
where our next event comes in.
On 21st March the Chamber’s networking
breakfast is themed around the eternally important
subject of financial management.
The first speaker will be Chris Ketley of
accountants Knill James. He’ll talk about
managing accounts to protect cash flow and enable
commercial success.
A crucial part of controlling income and
expenditure is getting invoices paid on time. When
a client proves immune to the very best account
management techniques, debt recovery comes
into play. Lucy Tarrant of solicitors Mayo Wynne
Baxter will explain the legal options.
Both Lucy and Chris will take questions and
there will be time for networking over coffee and
croissants.

Shape the Chamber’s future
This month we’re also holding an open meeting
on the Chamber’s future direction. We want to
hear about issues affecting local businesses and
discuss what support would be most useful. We
welcome everyone involved in doing business
in Lewes to come along and help us shape the
Chamber’s 2012 programme.
Representatives of two local businesses will explain
what they get out of Chamber membership and
Executive Committee members will outline some
of their plans.
