New to town this month is Mimi who have opened their
sparkly new ladies’ clothes and accessories shop in the space
recently vacated by the wedding shop. There are also stirrings
at the Needlemakers, where both Rehab and the Patchwork
Dog & Basket are expanding. The Patchwork expansion is
the creation of a new company called Made in Lewes. They
took over the space most recently used as the Christmas
card shop, and which they describe as a ‘creative workshop
workspace’. It will be run by Jill’s daughter Josie. The Rehab
Dress Agency, meanwhile, has more than doubled the size
of its shop, by taking over the unit next to it. Owner Marilyn French, tells us that she is delighted to now be
able to offer a much wider range of stock for her valued existing and new customers alike.
On the children’s front, we’ve recently heard that much loved Barcombe institution - the Eliza Brown
shoe shop - are shortly going to be moving their operation into Lewes. We’re also pleased to welcome the
MumaBaby Sanctuary to town. Describing itself as a ‘Beautiful Haven’ it will shortly be offering a range of
workshops, classes, complementary treatments and support groups. If you like the sound of this, and want to
learn more about how it will be ‘supporting a conscious approach to family well-being’ then visit to its new
base at 32 Cliffe High Street. Meanwhile at 33a, Billie has opened Leadbetter & Good, a gardening shop
she describes as ‘an homage to The Good Life’ in what was Gardener & Cook. Nick Williams
