SCubA Wrs 500 Discover Scuba Diving Learn the required equipment for scuba diving and how to use it correctly. Practice in the AACC pool. Learn basic skills and safety rules. Discuss requirements for basic scuba certification and different types of certification. All equipment is provided in the three-hour session. $70 include $30 fee. Note: This is not a certification course. Students must be age 15 years or older to enroll. All students must complete a medical questionnaire and liability waiver at the beginning of class. Prepare to meet the requirements for the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) certification. Discuss the physics related to diving; first aid and safe practices in diving; dive planning; and underwater communications. Demonstrate proper use and handling of underwater breathing apparatus and other diving equipment. CEUs awarded. $275 includes $207 fee. Note: Student must pass a swimming exam. Includes textbook and all scuba equipment except mask, snorkel and fins. A medical exam may be required. Certification is available after successful completion and four open water check-out dives (cost not included). Midlife and beyond brings new challenges, new opportunities and more choices. All of life is affected, from families, to work, to life in the community. We may find that we have been on auto-pilot for too many years. LifeStages is a series of courses that helps provide new ideas, approaches and advice for assessing, planning and gaining new skills to move confidently and fully engaged into this next stage of life. scuba • seniors SeniOrS Senior courses are for individuals age 55 and older and disabled retirees so certified by the Social Security Administration. Students ages 55-59 must pay $40 tuition per course plus a $80 administrative fee per three-month cycle (cycle fee) plus any fees for each course. Seniors age 60 and older and disabled retirees pay only the $80 cycle fee plus any supplies and lab fees. Course cycles are January-March, April-June, July- September and October-December. AACC offers courses for seniors at the Arnold campus, Glen Burnie Town Center and at various senior centers throughout Anne Arundel County. Seniors now may register online, mail, STARS or in person at the Arnold campus, CALT 115. For a list of senior center courses, contact your local senior center or visit www.aacc.edu/seniors.
