Interactive English
Interactive English courses are for students at the
advanced level who want to practice and improve
upper-level language skills while exploring a variety of
contemporary topics. These classes integrate listening,
speaking, reading and writing skills for interpersonal and
professional communication.
(30-hour classes)

Practice and improve upper-level language skills in listening,
speaking, reading, and writing. Engage in interactive communicative
activities while exploring a variety of contemporary
topics. Strengthen grammar skills while practicing vocabulary
building, effective reading and writing, and strategies for listening

Enhance advanced skills in listening, speaking, reading and
writing. Develop confidence in oral and written communication
while exploring topics presented in contemporary texts,
videos, podcasts and movies. Expand vocabulary, practice
using complex grammar structures and develop critical thinking

Prepare to teach ESL students in academic, community and
workplace settings. Learn the theory of the communicative
language teaching approach and its application to
second-language teaching and learning. Discuss language
skills, assessment and classroom management. Textbook

Prerequisite: Eligible for ENG 111 Composition and Introduction to
Literature 1 or permission of department chair.

Receive an orientation to ESL classrooms and ESL teaching.
Observe, interact with and participate in an ESL classroom
under the supervision of an experienced ESL instructor. CEUs
awarded. $155 includes $5 fee.
Prerequisite: ESL 380 Introduction to Teaching ESL or permission of
department chair.
