Well here we are its November going
on December and for most of us our
hunting seasons have either concluded or
are about to. One
season is coming
to a conclusion
and another is
upon us.
Yes, the
holiday season
is here and I
hope that your
Thanksgiving
Holiday was a
joyous and fun
filled occasion. That being said I would
also like to wish each of you, on behalf
of myself and my wife, Kathy, a Very
Blessed and Joyous Christmas.
It’s coming!!! It’s just around the
corner!!! What am I talking about? It’s
one of the great events of the year. What
is it you ask? Why, it’s the 2013 Oregon
Bow Hunters Annual Convention and
Banquet, to be held on February 22,
23rd and 24th of 2013 at the Bend
Riverhouse on the river in the Heart of
Bend.
It is anticipated that this will be one
of our best conventions ever and it is all
due to the incredibly hard work of many
individuals throughout the year to bring it

all together.
Once again, Karen Demaris, our
Convention Chair, has acquired for
us a fantastic and beautiful facility to
accommodate our convention and a
wonderful speaker in Dave Doran, an
archery historian, and owner of Archery
Past of Bend, Oregon.
Throughout the duration of the
convention many activities will take
place. Just to name a few there are the
State Indoor Championships (the 1st
leg of the Triple Crown), the Youth
Tournament, the Auction & Raffle, the
Awards Banquet Seminars and Exhibits,
the Game Committee Meeting and the
Field Governors Meeting.
I bring this to your attention because
I want to emphasize that Oregon Bow
Hunters is not just about hunting but
rather about all aspects of archery
including competitive target shooting.
This convention affords everyone
an opportunity to either familiarize
themselves with the sport of archery or
to increase their knowledge of the sport,
equipment, laws, shops and organizations.
As many of you know archery is the
number one growing sport in Oregon
and across the country. The movie “The
Hunger Games” has gone a long way
in sparking the interest of our youth in
the sport of archery. I bring this to your
attention because this is an incredible

opportunity for anyone who wants to
become acquainted with the sport of
archery. On Friday, February 22nd at
5pm we will offer a free shooting clinic,
open to the public, with all equipment
and instruction provided. This clinic is
an incredible opportunity, as I said, for
adults and youth alike to have some fun
and to become acquainted with archery at
no cost.
This is an invitation to all of you who
are receiving this magazine to either
bring with you or to invite your friends
and acquaintances who are not involved
in archery to come and participate
in the clinic and the festivities of the
convention.
I would also point out that youth
archery is a large part of what Oregon
Bow Hunters is all about. We just recently
introduced a new category for youth
membership in OBH with a cost of only
$10.00.
For my final request I ask that you
come and join us in a fun time and
experience at the 2013 Oregon Bow
Hunters Convention and Banquet.
