Children’s Book Week
moves to May beginning in
2008! Since 1919, educators,
librarians, booksellers, and
families have celebrated
Children’s Book Week during
the week before
Thanksgiving. However,
teachers, librarians, and
booksellers asked us to move
this national celebration to a
time when more kids could be
actively engaged. For the
89th annual observance, Children’s Book Week will be May 12–18, 2008.
Special materials available from the Children’s Book Council were
created by some of today’s hottest children’s book stars. Use these
posters, bookmarks, and other items to decorate your walls, promote
your events, and, most importantly, encourage kids to read. Be sure to
visit the Children’s Book Council’s Web site at www.cbcbooks.org for
more information, ideas, and materials for Children’s Book Week 2008.
Random House Children’s Books is a member of the Children’s Book Council (CBC), a
nonprofit trade organization that encourages the use and enjoyment of books and related
literacy materials for young people. Our books from the current and immediately preceding year are
available for examination at the CBC Library, 12 West 37th Street, New York, NY 10018. The library
is open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
