Part 3. Develop <str<strong>on</strong>g>Applicati<strong>on</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Soluti<strong>on</strong>s</str<strong>on</strong>g> for <strong>OS</strong>/<strong>390</strong> <strong>Using</strong> Java<br />

In this part we describe various applicati<strong>on</strong> soluti<strong>on</strong>s using Java and a specific<br />

subsystem <strong>on</strong> <strong>OS</strong>/<strong>390</strong>. All soluti<strong>on</strong>s make use of a Webserver, Lotus Domino Go<br />

Webserver Release 5.0 with either ServletExpress or WebSphere <str<strong>on</strong>g>Applicati<strong>on</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Server for <strong>OS</strong>/<strong>390</strong> V1.1. For each subsystem we focus <strong>on</strong> a different element:<br />

In Chapter 9, “DB2 Access” <strong>on</strong> page 117 we focus <strong>on</strong> programming servlets using<br />

either JDBC or SQLJ to access DB2.<br />

In Chapter 10, “Develop Java <str<strong>on</strong>g>Soluti<strong>on</strong>s</str<strong>on</strong>g> for CICS <strong>on</strong> <strong>OS</strong>/<strong>390</strong>” <strong>on</strong> page 155 our<br />

starting point was a Windows NT workstati<strong>on</strong> with a development envir<strong>on</strong>ment<br />

including a CICS server (TxSeries) and a Webserver. We developed an applicati<strong>on</strong><br />

entirely <strong>on</strong> Windows NT, ran it there, and then moved the applicati<strong>on</strong> up to <strong>OS</strong>/<strong>390</strong>.<br />

In Chapter 11, “Accessing IMS Transacti<strong>on</strong>s from the Web” <strong>on</strong> page 207 we focus<br />

<strong>on</strong> a more complicated scenario to access IMS: using the sessi<strong>on</strong> c<strong>on</strong>cept.<br />

Also, we developed a soluti<strong>on</strong> using the MQSeries Bindings for Java <strong>on</strong> <strong>OS</strong>/<strong>390</strong> to<br />

access IMS from a Java servlet or JSP.<br />
