50th Contracting Squadron<br />

Th e 50th Contracting Squadron administers<br />

$324 million in contracts and is responsible<br />

for providing operational and specialized<br />

acquisition support for the 50th Space Wing<br />

and its tenant and geographically separated<br />

units. 50th CONS awards and administers a<br />

broad range of contractual support requirements<br />

to include commodities, construction, architecture and<br />

engineering services, large and small-dollar services and<br />

research and development eff orts. 50th CONS is also<br />

responsible for providing quality assurance training and<br />

oversight for wing and tenant unit contracts and serves as the<br />

installation focal point for management and administration<br />

of the $6 million Government Purchase Card program.<br />

Th e 50 CONS deploys contracting offi cers and specialists<br />

worldwide in support of higher headquarters’ and national<br />

objectives.<br />

50th <strong>Force</strong> Support Squadron<br />

Th e 50th <strong>Force</strong> Support Squadron provides<br />

military, civilian and nonappropriated<br />

funds personnel services, manpower and<br />

organizational support, unit and installation<br />

readiness, military and civilian training,<br />

mortuary aff airs, and morale, welfare and<br />

recreation activities to the 50th Space Wing, its tenants and<br />

geographically separated units. Th e 50th FSS is composed of<br />

three direct reporting sections and four fl ights.<br />

Th e 50 FSS provides morale, welfare and recreation<br />

services critical to readiness and quality of life to active duty,<br />

reserve military, DoD civilians, contractor partners and<br />

family members. Many essential facilities and programs are<br />

off ered to base personnel, including a Child Development<br />

Center; Fitness and Sports Center; intramural and varsity<br />

sports; Outdoor Recreation offi ce/activities; Awards,<br />

Engraving and Custom Framing operation and Information,<br />

Tickets and Tours services. 50th FSS also oversees a large<br />

Outdoor Recreation program with natural settings for<br />

camping, recreational vehicles and fi shing opportunities at<br />

New Boston <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> Station, N.H. Th e 50 FSS deploys<br />

personnel and services <strong>Air</strong>men worldwide in support of<br />

higher headquarters’ and national objectives.<br />

<strong>Air</strong>man and Family Services Flight<br />

Th e <strong>Air</strong>man and Family Services Flight supports the<br />

active duty military, reservists, DoD civilians and family<br />

members. Th e fl ight delivers superior quality programs to<br />

enhance mission readiness for all <strong>Schriever</strong> AFB. Th is fl ight<br />

consists of the Child Development Center and the <strong>Air</strong>man<br />

and Family Readiness Center.<br />

Child Development Center<br />

Th e Child Development Center provides care for children<br />

ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Th e CDC staff is committed to<br />

providing excellent care for all children, and the curriculum is<br />

designed to meet the social, cognitive, emotional and physical<br />

needs of children through developmentally appropriate<br />

activities. Th e CDC is DoD certifi ed and accredited by the<br />

National Association for the Education of Young Children<br />

guidelines. All parents of enrolled children are eligible to<br />

participate in the Parent Advisory Board, which has an<br />

important role in shaping the parent involvement activities<br />

at the CDC. Th e 31,000 square foot facility opened in<br />

2002 and houses 22 classrooms. Th is state-of-the-art facility<br />

also has fi ve professionally designed playgrounds to meet<br />

the physical and social needs of the children. Th e CDC is<br />

School Age Program<br />

Th e School Age Program off ers a variety of care, various<br />

clubs, and activities for children ages 5 to 12 years. Before<br />

and after school care, as well as hourly care, can be provided<br />

with reservations and space availability. Winter, Spring, and<br />

Summer Camps are also off ered, and include fun-fi lled fi eld<br />

trips. Th e School Age Programs activities are designed to<br />

enable youth to reach their full potential and help children<br />

become productive, caring, responsible adults. Th e School<br />

Age Program is located inside of the Child Development<br />

Center Building 60, Hahn Avenue.<br />

<strong>Air</strong>man and Family Readiness Center<br />

Th e <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> has long realized the direct connection<br />

between the ability of the military member to accomplish the<br />

mission and the quality of life his or her family experiences.<br />

<strong>Air</strong>man and Family Readiness Centers were established to<br />

assist with the unique issues that aff ect military members and<br />

their families, such as relocating and coping with duty-related<br />

family separations. Services off ered by the A&FRC include:<br />

information and referral, family readiness and deployment<br />
