Katherine Leigh Doherty, Dan Reulbach, Shelly Bolman Thanks to donors to wheelock Family Theatre in its 30th year! In addition to theater productions, classes, and community outreach programs, Wheelock Family Theatre also offers open houses free to the public each year as part of the Fenway Cultural District’s Opening Our Doors event. This fall, WFT showcased sample classes, hosted the National Braille Press story hour, and presented two student performances: Once on This Island and Barnyard Dance, a collection of stories, poems, and dance. For most of the 225 people who attended, this was their first time on Wheelock’s campus and in the Theatre—a wonderful introduction to the College and to the power of the theater to engage, educate, and entertain. A grant from the Davis Educational Foundation provided continued support for completing implementation of Wheelock’s new General Education curriculum and for developing a long-term plan for assessment of how well the curriculum engages students and helps them meet carefully developed and defined learning outcomes.
