In addition, she has served as the chair for Kids on the Block and parent leader for Families First. Fred Foulkes Professor Foulkes was a founding faculty member of the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard and is the founder and director of the Human Resources Policy Institute at Boston University’s School of Management. A former director of both Bright Horizons and Cambridge Medical, Foulkes is currently a faculty member of Boston University and a director of Panera Bread. Sara Hosmer ’93BSW Awarded the Lucy <strong>Wheelock</strong> Award in 2003, Hosmer has been an adjunct professor in <strong>Wheelock</strong>’s B.S.W. program and is a member of the Alumni Board, continuing the tradition of giving back to the <strong>College</strong> modeled by her great-aunt, Katharine “Kay” Hosmer Connor ’33. Currently Hosmer is the principal at the Martin E. Young Elementary School in Randolph, MA. Eliane Markoff Founder of Art in Giving, a corporate recognition company that combines the fine arts with recognition to benefit pediatric cancer research, Markoff is a known artist in the Boston area and a senior-level entrepreneur who also coaches executives in leadership and management skills. She has been a faculty member at Bentley University and has served on the board of overseers at Newton- Wellesley Hospital and the board of directors for the Brain Tumor Society. Jane Hertig Roberts ’73 A kindergarten and first-grade teacher for more than 20 years, Roberts developed a teacher mentor program for the Newton Public Schools, founded the citywide Early Childhood Committee, and was a board member of Friends of Snow Library. She has mentored Boston Public Schools teachers since 2009 with <strong>Wheelock</strong>’s Educator Mentor Corps program. Mark Roberts ’76MS A member of <strong>Wheelock</strong>’s Alumni Endowment Committee and Executive-in-Residence/ Lecturer at Boston University School of Management, Roberts is a financial consultant specializing in banking, risk management, and capital markets. His career includes positions as director at Bank of Boston and senior vice president at FleetBoston Financial, in addition to numerous directorships and other leadership positions. Prior to his financial career, he taught elementary school for 11 years. Karen Sturges ’87MS A former elementary school teacher and head of the lower school at Pike School in Andover, Sturges serves on the board of overseers at Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center in Dorchester, where she is a volunteer teacher in the after-school program. She is also a trustee and volunteer at Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, and she is the parent of <strong>Wheelock</strong> alumna Margaret McDermott ’86. Leverett Wing Executive director of Asian & Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) in Washington, D.C., Wing is also executive director of the Massachusetts Asian American Commission and serves on Gov. Deval Patrick’s finance team. In addition, he serves on the board of overseers at Joslin Diabetes Center and WGBH-TV/Radio, as well as on the board of directors of the Asian Community Development Corporation. Corporators Gary Bergstrom As originator of the Putnam Companies International Fund, founder of Acadian Financial Research, and chairman of Acadian Asset Management Inc., Dr. Bergstrom has more than 25 years of leadership experience in global investing. He has a Ph.D. from MIT, where he also taught at the Sloan School of Management, and was married to the late Joan Bergstrom, founder of <strong>Wheelock</strong>’s Center for International Education, Leadership, and Innovation. Valerie Mosley Currently the senior vice president, partner, and fixed income portfolio manager at Wellington Management, Mosley holds an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and is a chartered financial analyst. She has previous experience as chief investment officer at P.G. Corbin Asset Management and in positions at Kidder Peabody and Chase Manhattan Bank. Geneva “Genie” S. Thorndike Genie Thorndike is a former co-chair of <strong>Wheelock</strong>’s Committee on Trustees and co-chair of the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees. She is a former high school English teacher and trustee of the Noble and Greenough School and is currently chair of the WGBH Ralph Lowell Society. Lauren McLachlan Widing ’08 A second-grade teacher at The Fessenden School in West Newton, where she was formerly also a kindergarten teacher and dorm parent, Widing completed a semester abroad at University of Newcastle, Australia, while she was an undergraduate at <strong>Wheelock</strong>.
