Dear reader,
A few weeks ago, myclimate presented the annual report 2010. According to the motto „avoid, reduce and offset
emissions“ myclimate expanded the activities in all three areas. The total turnover was roughly 12 million Swiss
Francs. In total 303’300 tons of CO2 were offset. This is the highest annual offset volume myclimate has ever
achieved! Thanks to all our clients and partners!
Recently, a group of myclimate staff and representatives has been able to see in East Africa what effects the offset
revenue has in the project regions. In a two week project trip they visited myclimate carbon offset projects in Kenya,
Uganda and Ethiopia.
At the end of June 2011, the long-term foundation board chairman Rolf Jeker left myclimate. We thank him very
much for his great engagement for myclimate! His successor is Giatgen-Peder Fontana, who has already been a
member of the foundation board. We wish him all the best for this new challenge!
myclimate also has a new member in the patronage committee: We are very glad to welcome Federal Councillor
Doris Leuthard!

Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard is new member of
the myclimate patronage committee!
We are very excited to present a new member of the myclimate patronage
committee: Federal Councillor and Director of the Federal Department of
Environment, Traffic, Energy and Communication (UVEK) Doris Leuthard.
As new member of the myclimate patronage committee she says: „Climate
protection and a sustainable, secure energy supply require all of us to take
a fresh approach, use new tools and enter into new commitments.“
Electricity from hydropower in Vietnam
This myclimate project in central Vietnam involves the construction of a
hydropower plant that supplies electricity to the national grid. The
increasing use of hydropower in Vietnam replaces damaging coal, gas and
diesel plants. The project enhances the sustainable development and is
expected to create over 300 temporary jobs for the installation of the
hydropower plant and 18 permanent positions as result of the subsequent
operation.
Ades: 10 years sustainable engagement in
Madagascar
myclimate congratulates Ades to the 10th anniversary! The non-profit
organization has been engaged for 10 years to protect the unique flora and
fauna and to promote sustainable and efficient cooking methods with solar
cookers in Madagascar. At the occasion of the anniversary, Ades presented
a novelty: a solar cooker with integrated solar cells. With this innovation it is
possible to use the solar cookers to charge a mobile phone or a radio.
myclimate signs MoU with Maldive Tourism Ministry
The Maldive Islands want to become climate neutral until 2020. In this
context the Maldive Tourism Ministry and myclimate have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding at the World Tourism Forum in Lucerne.
Climate neutral Festival del film Locarno
A few days ago, the best films and actors were awarded at the Festival del
film Locarno. Another winner was the climate: As last year, the festival was
climate neutral. Furthermore the organizers promoted public transport,
eBikes and green electricity to minimize emissions and to improve the
event’s energy efficiency.
myclimate package for the printing sector on track
Since February 2011 the demand for the myclimate package for the printing
sector has increased. Over all there are 60 print shops engaged in this
program. Since February 2011 six new print shops offer climate neutral
printed matters.

First climate neutral triathlon in Germany
The Sparkassen City Triathlon Heilbronn 2011 offsets its emissions with
myclimate Germany. Furthermore the organizers bought green electricity
and used long-living materials. The participants and spectators were
encouraged to arrive by public transport means.
Climate neutral diapers of Hyga
The company Hyga is intensively improving the sustainability of their
products. Hyga is buying green electricity and was able to reduce the
weight of its diapers by about 25 percent. In addition, Hyga offsets the
emissions of the diapers in myclimate carbon offset projects.
Climate neutral events in the Hallenstadion Zurich
Since May 2011, the Hallenstadion Zurich offers its clients the possibility to
organize climate neutral events. The emissions can be offset in high quality
myclimate carbon offset projects.
DEPART travel agencies disclose flight emissions
In cooperation with the German tourism service provider DERPART
myclimate has realized an automated solution for CO2 calculations of
flights. All DERPART travel agencies can now offer the service to calculate
emissions of business clients' flights.
The first two climate neutral Beauty Line stores in
Cyprus
In cooperation with the myclimate representative in Greece, CSE, the first
climate neutral Beauty Line stores were presented in Nicosia. All cosmetic
stores of Papaellinas Group will gradually be made climate neutral.
Climate detectives open climate audio trail in
Zermatt
myclimate has opened a new climate audio trail in Zermatt. In seven tracks,
called “Wolli and the Climate Detectives” children from 6 years onward look
together with Wolli and the black nose sheep for the glacier fleas that have
disappeared. The audio trail sensitizes children and families for climate
change.

Apprentices design the energy future at the
myclimate climate laboratory
Several apprentices from all over the country have participated in in the 4th
climate laboratory in Switzerland and developed CO2 saving projects. The
best projects were awarded in June. In Germany, the climate laboratory
took place for the first time this year.
Active climate pioneers
„Climate Pioneers“ is an initiative of Swisscom with the partners Solar
Impulse, myclimate and the Federal Office for the Environment. The project
offers school classes from kindergarten to high school the possibility to
realize own climate protection projects. In Bonstetten for example, 480 kids
and teenagers implemented climate protection measures in 35 projects.
Another project was realized in Guttannen, where a wind plant produces
now electricity for the IT structure of the school building. In Horgen,
scholars replaced an old solar energy plant with a new one which is much
more efficient.
Innovative and climate friendly hotel in Zurich north
Since June, the Hotel Courtyard by Marriott Zurich North offers its guests a
new climate protection package. If a guest chooses this package, called
myclimate Climate Package, he pays 10 Swiss Francs in addition to the
accommodation and supports directly climate protection projects of
myclimate in Zurich North and Malawi. This project finances the
establishment of the ClimateLocal-group in the quarter.
myclimate Türkiye’s first education project
myclimate Turkey has started its first education project in order to increase
environmental awareness and promote the low carbon society among
house wives and primary school students. The education project was
launched jointly with the Istanbul Bilgi University. It will be implemented in
whole Turkey, particularly in Southeastern and Eastern Anatolian cities.
The first training was given in Kilis, located at the border to Syria.
