FISHES OF SOUTH DAKOTA<br />
Introduction<br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> is home to more than 100 fi sh species. Included in<br />
this guide are tips for identifi cation, distribution maps, <strong>and</strong> brief<br />
life histories <strong>of</strong> many <strong>of</strong> these. Also included is a comprehensive<br />
listing <strong>of</strong> all known species in the state.<br />
Partial funding was provided by the <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> <strong>Department</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Game</strong>, <strong>Fish</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Parks</strong> through Federal Aid in Sport <strong>Fish</strong><br />
Restoration Aquatic Education Project 5506 <strong>and</strong> the <strong>South</strong><br />
<strong>Dakota</strong> Cooperative Extension Service through Renewable<br />
Resources Extension Act funds.<br />
