patented movement technology in a smaller package
and employing innovations that include a one-of-a-kind
clamp system used to secure the bezel to the case, the
crown’s unmistakably unique articulating arm and an
innovative chronograph feature.

design movement is informed by the concept of
combining a very old-fashioned appearance with an
extremely high-tech purpose. Therefore, the Tread
1 Steampunk Edition is a perfect fit, combining its
modern, cutting-edge electro-mechanical movement
technology with classical design sensibilities.
c Tread 1 The Tread 1’s unique functionality reinvents
the watch, extending far beyond the boundaries of
traditional watchmaking. The movement of the Tread 1 is
a mesmerizing display of Devon’s patented interwoven
system of time belts. This series of belts expresses
hours and minutes in exacting motion, while the
seconds indicator runs in continuous motion. To ensure
temporal accuracy, a proprietary optical recognition
system monitors each belt position at all times.
Operating out of Southern California, Devon Works has won over watch critics and buyers alike with
its first timepiece, the innovative Tread 1. What makes the company’s timepieces so unique is DEV-
ON’s creative use of technology, the most conspicuous being the patented system of fiberglass-reinforced
nylon belts which revolve around a central chassis to indicate time as opposed to a traditional
face and hands. The belts are only 2/1000th’s of an inch thick and are a technology appropriated directly
out of the cockpits of modern airliners and military aircraft. In 2010 the Tread 1 was nominated
for the Gran Prix d’Horlogerie de Genéve in the category of Design and Concept Watch — the first
American company ever to receive the watch industry’s highest honor.
