Bell & Ross is passionate about military history—particularly
that of aviation, which made
precise timekeeping one of its key navigational
tools. In 2011 Bell & Ross reached a key
stage in its history, updating the wrist watches
worn during World War I by creating the
PW1 (Pocket Watch 1), and the Vintage WW1
(Wrist Watch 1). In 2012, Bell & Ross is marking
another key moment in the history of military
watchmaking by reinterpreting World War II
navigational instruments with the VINTAGE
WW2 RÉGULATEUR HERITAGE.
By creating the VINTAGE WW2 RÉGULA-
TEUR HERITAGE (Wrist Watch 2), Bell &
Ross pays tribute to the timekeeping instruments
used by bomber navigators in the
1930s and 1940s. The VINTAGE WW2 observation
watch emphasizes the minutes display,
essential for aviators in calculating their position
or flight speed. The modern version of
this functional and historical model possesses
the ergonomics and immediate legibility of
a navigator’s watch.
Watches of the period needed to be extremely
clear for easy visibility. The VINTAGE WW2
adopts the same style with its large 49mm diameter
case. To ensure perfect legibility, the
minutes are displayed across the full width
of the dial. The VINTAGE WW2 features a
central hand for the minutes, a counter for
the hours, and a small independent seconds
hand, enabling a fast and precise reading. It is
a Swiss made complication movement.
The large bi-directional notched bezel is
the most characteristic identifying element
inspired by the navigational instrument. For
greater comfort, the oversized crown is on
the left at 9 o’clock, rather than the more traditionally
placed 3 o’clock. The large grooved
crown and wide-notched bezel ensure optimal
ease of use, facilitating operation while
wearing gloves. As with the original timepieces,
the VINTAGE WW2 has mobile strap fastenings
that adjust to the wrist for absolute
comfort.
The VINTAGE WW2 features a case with
an aged, gunmetal gray steel finish, giving it
the appearance of a watch that has gained
a patina over time. The sand-colored hands,
numerals and index markers, and the matte
leather strap emphasize the authentic nature
of this timepiece.
Armed with its unique military expertise,
Bell & Ross reinterprets the authentic spirit
of a vintage navigational tool with modern
watch-making qualities. The VINTAGE WW2
RÉGULATEUR HERITAGE is the embodiment

timemaster big date
The Timemaster family plays an important
role within the overall Chronoswiss collection.
This sports line is inspired by rich, traditional
elements, including a strikingly large
onion-style crown, and has been enriched
with the numerous models over the last
few years.
Only a Timemaster that included a large
date was missing up until now, much to the
chagrin of the brand’s connoisseurs. All that
changed at Baselworld 2011 when Chronoswiss
introduced the Timemaster Big Date.
This long-awaited new model offers more
than just a big date, however: a power reserve
indication is also prominently placed
at 6 o’clock. This enables the Timemaster Big
Date’s wearer to know when it’s time to get
out and move — an incredibly sensible function
even on automatic watches.
The new Timemaster Big Date offers a multitude
of functional and visual attributes: it is
quite obviously part of the powerful Timemaster
family with its sporty design combined
with fresh, colorful accents. The outer
appearance and striking measurements
promise to be a robust companion every
hour of the day: the intensely luminous elements
coated with SuperLumiNova on the
dial, hands, and even the bezel make the
Timemaster Big Date extremely legible.
