motion is stopped on any left foot beat.<br />

99. Mace Salute<br />

<strong>The</strong> mace salute is executed with the mace remaining<br />

in the carry position. <strong>The</strong> drum major<br />

executes a hand salute, as prescribed in FM 22-5.<br />

100. Inspection Mace<br />

<strong>The</strong> position assumed by the drum major when<br />

presenting the mace for inspection is known as<br />

Inspection Mace. This position is assumed from<br />

the position of order mace by extending the right<br />

arm fully, swinging the ferrule to the left and<br />

upward until it reaches a horizontal position,<br />

chest high, and grasping the staff near the fer-<br />
