City of Milton Parks & Recreation facilities Bell Memorial Park 15245 Bell Park Road An active-use park with four baseball fields, pavilions, picnic areas, parking, concessions and a playground. Hopewell Youth Association maintains the league through a use agreement with the City of Milton. Bethwell Community Center 2695 Hopewell Road Recently renovated, the Bethwell Community Center houses City of Milton Parks and Recreation programs and activities and summer day camps. Birmingham Park 750 Hickory Flat Road This 200-acre site, located behind Fire Station No. 43 at 750 Hickory Flat Road, is currently undeveloped but open for passive use (hiking, dog walking, or horseback riding). This park’s master plan is complete and awaiting funding. Crabapple Community Center 12615 Broadwell Road Currently closed as plans for the property are finalized. Friendship Community Park 12785 Birmingham Highway This 1.81 acre park, opened Dec. 1, 2012, is a joint venture with the the Fulton County School System. Located between Crabapple Crossing Elementary and Northwestern Middle School, it features a small picnic pavilion, walking path, half court basketball and a play field. Please note: The park is closed to the general public during active school hours, generally 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., on days school is in session. Hopewell House 15690 Hopewell Road This historic structure, dated back to at least 1865, is currently closed as plans for the property are finalized. Providence Park 13440 Providence Park Drive This 40-acre park is currently still under possession and maintenance by Fulton County and will belong to the City of Milton as early as December 2012 once the final stage of environmental contamination cleanup 1 | Facilities & Staff is complete. The city will create a renovation plan for Providence Park so it can be open to the public. 1-acre park site at the southwest corner of Deerfield Parkway and Webb Road This property was purchased in November 2010. A site plan has not been drafted yet. Milton/Alpharetta parks partnership Thanks to a partnership with the City of Alpharetta Parks and Recreation Department, on Dec. 1 2012 Milton and Alpharetta established a regionalized parks system for both cities and dissolved all non-resident fees at current and future city facilities. According to the terms of the agreement, the cities will annually negotiate a variable maintenance fee - for 2012, the fee is $325,000. For that price, Milton residents can use all the City of Alpharetta programs and facilities they know and love without incurring nonresident fees, which can add as much as 75 percent to the cost of participating. Alpharetta residents may also use any current and future Milton facilities without incurring extra costs. Milton’s cost in the agreement will decrease incrementally as the city brings forward additional facilities and programs utilized by Alpharetta residents. Following is a list of frequently asked questions regarding registration for parks and recreation programs in Milton and Alpharetta. Please note: Milton’s established registration schedules will not change. I registered for an Alpharetta program online and it charged me fees. Can I get a refund? City of Milton residents who choose to register online for City of Alpharetta recreation programs during open registration will be charged non-resident fees by the online software system. However, these non-resident fees shall be refunded upon request. City of Milton residents must e-mail recreation@alpharetta.ga.us to request refund of non-resident fees paid during online registration. The refund will be issued to the customer’s credit card. Once the refund has been processed, Alpharetta’s Parks and Recreation Department will e-mail a credit voucher to the customer. Can I register using priority registration? Priority registration for Alpharetta programs begin two weeks before open registration. Milton residents must register in person during the two week period at Milton’s City Hall or online (for Milton programs) or any Alpharetta Recreation and Parks facility (for Alpharetta programs) during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday). Visit www.alpharetta.ga.us for registration sites. When can non-priority Milton residents register? City of Milton residents who have not participated in a specific Alpharetta program may register one week before open registration. Milton residents may register in person at any Alpharetta Recreation and Parks facility during regular business hours, by fax, by mail, or by e-mailing a completed activity registration form available at www.alpharetta.ga.us to recreation@alpharetta.ga.us. When is open registration? Open registration for Alpharetta programs is held two weeks after the start of priority registration.
