Winter Athletics<br />

North Georgia Rec Basketball (6-12 year olds)<br />

Northwestern Middle School, Hopewell Middle School<br />

Description: Basketball is <strong>of</strong>fered only in the Winter<br />

through North Georgia Recreation. Our Winter season<br />

is for boys and girls ages 6-12 years. Our Six Shooters<br />

program for 6 year old boys and girls is an instructional<br />

program held once a week on Tuesdays or Thursdays at<br />

5:30pm. The 7-12 year old boys and girls participate in a<br />

league with 1 practice a week and a game on the weekends.<br />

We use several <strong>of</strong> the local schools to hold practices<br />

and games. As players progress through our different<br />

age groups, they are provided with many opportunities<br />

to develop and fine-tune their ball handling skills, court<br />

movement as well as learn <strong>of</strong>fensive and defensive strategy.<br />

Age groups are based on the child’s age as <strong>of</strong> September<br />

1st <strong>of</strong> the current school year. All 9-12 year olds<br />

will go through evaluations. Evaluations are mandatory<br />

and will be held on Oct. 20, 2012.<br />

Registration: Begins Sept. 4.<br />

Spring Athletics<br />

Alpharetta Youth S<strong>of</strong>tball Association (6U - 13-plus)<br />

Alpharetta North Park (through partnership)<br />

Description: The Alpharetta Youth S<strong>of</strong>tball Association<br />

(AYSA) is a volunteer organization providing a quality<br />

s<strong>of</strong>tball league for girls in Alpharetta, <strong>Milton</strong>, and<br />

the North Fulton area. We focus on developing playing<br />

skills, good sportsmanship, promoting physical fitness<br />

and contributing to the quality <strong>of</strong> life in the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> Alpharetta<br />

and surrounding areas by ensuring access to a<br />

team sport for young girls.<br />

Cost: 6U: $100 ; 8U: $115; 10U and above: $135.<br />

Registration: Through Jan. 23, 2013<br />

Eagle Stix Lacrosse (5-14 year olds -- girls only)<br />

Northwestern Middle, Birmingham Falls Elementary<br />

Description: Eagle Stix will be conducting a spring recreation<br />

lacrosse program for girls in Pre-K through 8th<br />

grade. All girls will be placed on a team.<br />

Cost: Pre-K through 3rd grade: $175 for residents<br />

and $225 for non-residents; 4th through 8th grade:<br />

$225 for residents and $275 for non-residents.<br />

Registration: Late October<br />

North Georgia Rec Flag Football (6-17 year olds)<br />

Cogburn Woods Elementary, Hopewell Middle School<br />

Description: Our Winter season is a much larger league<br />

where we <strong>of</strong>fer children ages 6-17 the ability to sharpen<br />

their skills while having a great time. A mouth guard is<br />

required for play. Age groups are based on the child’s age<br />

as <strong>of</strong> Sept. 1 <strong>of</strong> the current school year.<br />

Registration: Oct. 1 - Nov. 4<br />

Cost: $140 for residents and $210 for non-residents<br />

Dates: Nov. 26 - Feb. 10<br />

Hopewell Youth Association Baseball (4-15 year olds)<br />

Bell Memorial Park<br />

Description: HYA, which recently celebrated its 25th<br />

anniversary, is a non-pr<strong>of</strong>it organization that schedules<br />

and programs the baseball activities at <strong>Milton</strong>’s Bell Memorial<br />

Park through a joint agreement with the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Milton</strong>.<br />

Registration:<br />

Nov. 7 to Dec. 3 – <strong>Milton</strong> residents and HYA veteran<br />

players ONLY.<br />

Dec. 4 to Dec. 17 – Alpharetta residents (no out-<strong>of</strong>-city<br />

fees).<br />

Dec. 18 to Dec. 31 – Open registration.<br />

Cost: Cost varies based on age group and residence.<br />
