The Wethersfield Band is divided into three parts: The Marching Band, Pep Band, Concert Band. The Marching<br />
Band, composed of 56 members, played for all home football games and was host to the Galva Band<br />
at the Galva game, traveled to Toulon and Walnut for two games, led the Homecoming Parade, led the<br />
<strong>Kewanee</strong>Fall Fesitval Parade and attended Western Illinois State College Homecoming Festival and entered<br />
parade competition, receiving a Division I Rating of Superior.<br />
The Pep Band, 26 members, under the direction of student conductors, played for numerous pep assemblies<br />
and for all home games. The Pep Band is small in size, but is partially a select group, taken from the concert<br />
band. The Pep Band plays all music at sight, having no special rehearsals.<br />
The Concert Band is composed of 70 members. They gave their Annual Concert for the January PTA meeting,<br />
with band members doing the conducting. Student conductors are Betty Dexter, Virginia Jenkin, Patricia<br />
Coziahr, John Townsend, and Robert Kuzminski. The band played a special concert for the Rotary<br />
Club at the Hotel <strong>Kewanee</strong> in February. The entire concert band entered the Illinois High School Association<br />
Music Contests at Moline with high hopes of being allowed to advance to the State Final. Twelve<br />
soloists and eight ensembles also took part in the contest. For the first time the Wethersfield Band was host<br />
to the Blackhawk Conference Band Festival. Over 350-musicians from the Blackhawk schools participated.<br />
The band gave its Fifth Annual Formal Concert in the 1st week of May. The Concert Band also furnished<br />
music for the High School Commencement Exercises and performed for numerous Churches and Civic Organizations<br />
throughout the year, with solos and ensembles.<br />
