Tri-Hi-Y begins again- too late in 1952 for the Green Quill readers to view them in the yearbook but are now ready for viewing and reviewing after two successful years. Associated with the Y.M.C.A. organization of Kewanee, 111. our purpose is to create, maintain, and extend throughout the home, school and community high standards of Christian character. Our slogan being: pure thoughts, pure words, pure actions; colors; red, white, blue exemplifying Sacrifice, Purity and Loyalty. The officers who helped us come through the first year were: President, Mary Ann Anderson, Vice-President, Mary Ann Pratt, Secretary, Kay Johnson, and Treasurer, Vivian Peterson. Girls who are now alumnae and former members are: Jean Calhoun, Pat Hamilton, Marjorie Hutsell, Marilyn Lee, Jo Ann Marsh, Carol Marvin, Judy Peoples, Travella Royce, Dixie Simpson, and Mary Lou Thompson. Projects for the year 5Z-53 were giving canned goods to the Welfare Committee of Kewanee at Christmas, making favors for both hospitals of Kewanee on St. Patricks Day and May Day. Tri-Hi-Y also sponsored a Cotton Ball inviting Kewanee students to attend. Program chairman and vice-president Mary Ann Pratt furnished us programs of high interest. Our biggest undertaking was helping the Student Council sponsor a Midwinter Formal held on February 6 which was a huge success. 35
