16. Insert the depth gauge until it passes through the distal cortex<br />
<strong>of</strong> the phalanx. Retract the stem until the lip catches against the bone<br />
to determine measurement.<br />
17. Select the 2.7mm standard screw <strong>of</strong> desired length for use in the transfixation hole.<br />
Verify the screw length with the gauge on the block. Insert the screw into the drilled<br />
hole. Fluoroscopy is recommended to ensure correct length and angulation.<br />
18. Close the treatment site using standard closure techniques.<br />
