REFRIGERATED
TRAvEL MAKE-UP
CASE
The optimum temperature for make-up is room
temperature.
Many oil based cosmetic products such as
foundation cream, lipstick and soft eye pencils
begin to melt and congeal once they pass this
critical temperature, making them difficult to
apply and often rendering them unusable.
various cosmetic brands and beauty advice columns
suggest that placing make-up into a refrigerated
environment prior to use in a hot or sunny situation
could preserve their original format and prevent
the spoiling of expensive products. However this is
temporary and short lived solution.
I have designed a make-up case designed to chill
and protect the most popular make up products
used when travelling to beach locations and hot
climates. I have calculated that my case can
maintain a temperature of 21°C below the outside
temperature and sustain this for 8 hours.
The primary market for this cooling product is
females travelling to or in hot climates including
beach destinations.
The make-up cooler will cost more than the average
make-up bag, however I believe that the additional
initial expense could save the user money in the
long run, negating the necessity to replace spoiled
make-up products. The application of make-up in
hot conditions would be facilitated by storage at the
correct temperature.
The technology and design principles could be
applied to other applications such as medicine
storage.
The novelty, colour and design elements would
also be of paramount importance when marketing
the product.
